After class, Xu Yan was about to leave with his bag on his back when he was stopped by an Alpha.

“Xu Yan, what a coincidence. I didn’t expect to be in the same class as you.”

Xu Yan looked up. He recognized this person, Zhou Zhengyi from the Physical Education Department, who had confessed to him before but was rejected. He didn’t expect to run into him awkwardly again here.

“Ah, what a coincidence. I’ll go first.”

Xu Yan tried to walk past him, but Zhou Zhengyi caught up and blocked him between the rows of desks.

“What’s the rush? I sent you a message a couple of days ago and found out you blocked me. I know you’re a Beta, but I like you regardless of your gender. I like you as a person. Can’t you at least consider me?”

Xu Yan felt a bit distressed. If he were going to consider it, he would have already. Didn’t this person understand the meaning of rejection?

“I really don’t have feelings for you. It has nothing to do with my gender. You’re such an excellent Alpha; you can find an Omega who matches you better. There’s no need to keep your sights on me. It’s just a waste of your time.”

Xu Yan spoke sincerely, advising, “I really am not suitable.”

Zhou Zhengyi didn’t listen to what he was saying at all. Seeing him slightly tilt his face to look at him, his beautiful face was even softer and cuter than an Omega’s.

“How are you not suitable? You haven’t even smelled my pheromones. Maybe you’ll like them a lot…”

As he spoke, Zhou Zhengyi tried to reach out and grab his wrist but suddenly sensed a faint Alpha pheromone scent on him.

It seemed to have been on him for two or three days and was about to dissipate, so it was hard to smell unless you got close and sniffed carefully.

Zhou Zhengyi’s expression changed. “Why do you have Alpha pheromones on you? Have you been marked? No, you’re a Beta; you can’t be marked.”

Zhou Zhengyi left, and Xu Yan also came out of Wen Sinian’s arms, straightening his clothes and softly thanking him, “Thank you.”

“It’s nothing,” Wen Sinian said, looking down at him. “Were you often harassed by Alphas before?”

Xu Yan: “…It hasn’t been very often.”

Perhaps because of his gentle appearance, many people mistook him for an Omega, so some Alphas would express their affection. The two walked back to the dormitory building together. Xu Yan assumed Wen Sinian wouldn’t be staying in the dormitory, so he said goodbye at the foot of the building.

The tree shade covered them both, with only a bit of lamplight and moonlight filtering through the dense leaves.

Wen Sinian gazed at his fair cheeks. The breeze carried the sweet, enticing fragrance from his body into his nostrils.

“Yes,” Wen Sinian said.

Xu Yan stood obediently. “Go ahead.”

Wen Sinian asked, “You don’t like that person just now. Do you not like Alphas?”

Xu Yan was stunned for a moment, not expecting him to ask such a question.

“I just don’t like him. I don’t dislike Alphas,” Xu Yan hurriedly explained. “All genders are equal to me, really.”

Seeing the Alpha in front of him looking calm and staring straight at him, Xu Yan added, “I don’t dislike you either.”

He was afraid of causing a misunderstanding with Wen Sinian.

“Oh,” Wen Sinian leaned in closer. “Then do you like me?”

Wen Sinian saw him look away, too shy to meet his gaze, and a sweet feeling suddenly surged within him.

“I like you, Xu Yan,” Wen Sinian said softly. “I like you very much. Would you be willing to be with me?”

The Alpha’s sudden confession left Xu Yan dazed. He opened his mouth, asking a silly question: “Do you know I’m a Beta?”

Wen Sinian smiled slightly, brushing the hair from his cheek to behind his ear. “I know.”

No one knew better than he did.

“Then do you still like me?”

“I do.”

Wen Sinian’s answer was too firm, and Xu Yan’s emotions were stirred by him. His heart felt light, as if it were about to float into the clouds.

“You can take your time to consider it. Let me know when you’ve decided,” Wen Sinian said. “Starting tomorrow, I’ll move back into the dormitory.”

Naturally, Wen Sinian’s things were all moved back, and the two-person dormitory finally had two occupants.

Wen Sinian didn’t ask Xu Yan again about his decision. Xu Yan wanted to tell him his thoughts but felt too embarrassed to bring it up himself.

It was just more convenient to live together and accept Wen Sinian’s kindness.

In the dormitory, there was no shortage of good food and drink. Whenever Wen Sinian discovered something Xu Yan liked to eat, he would buy a lot of it for him. Since Xu Yan couldn’t finish it all by himself, he would reluctantly share it with other dormitories.

On weekends, when Xu Yan went to work at the coffee shop, Wen Sinian would either drive to pick him up and drop him off or simply spend the whole day at the coffee shop, buying him breakfast and lunch, and taking him out for a late-night snack after his shift…

On their way back after having a late-night snack, Xu Yan kept encouraging himself. Tonight, he must muster the courage to tell Wen Sinian his feelings. He couldn’t keep silently accepting Wen Sinian’s devotion.

After the car stopped in front of the dormitory building, Wen Sinian seemed to sense that he had something to say. Without rushing, he rolled up all the car windows and pressed the central locking button.

Xu Yan took a deep breath and turned to look at the person beside him.

“I have something to say,” Xu Yan nervously fiddled with the seatbelt. “The question you asked me that day… ask me again.”

Wen Sinian rested his head on one hand and turned to look at him. “What question?”

Xu Yan frowned slightly. “Did you forget? The one you asked me at the foot of the dormitory building, the night before you moved back into the dormitory.”

Wen Sinian carefully studied his face, finally fixing his gaze on his slightly parted lips.
