Read And Be Lazy
    Chapter Index

The sound of firecrackers outside had stopped.

Xu Yan was pinned under the covers, his back against the cold bedsheets, but his chest was burning hot.

The marks left on his body before had already faded, but judging by Wen Sinian’s actions, he clearly intended to leave new ones.

Within a few moments, Xu Yan’s eyes were brimming with tears as he struggled, pushing against the head pressing down on his chest.

    “Stop… please stop…”

But his restless hands were caught and pinned to his sides, leaving him no room to escape.

Gaining an inch and taking a mile, that was Wen Sinian’s usual tactic.

In the quiet room, the sound of greedy, wet kisses echoed repeatedly.

Suddenly, there was a soft knock on the door of the small study.

Zhuang Sheng: “Yanyan? Are you in there?”

Xu Yan snapped back to reality as if jolted from a chaotic dream. His whole body trembled, nearly letting out a yelp.

A hand quickly stuffed the hem of his shirt back into his pants. Wen Sinian raised his head, eyes flashing with irritation at the interruption, but he still lowered his head to gently kiss the flushed skin before whispering in Xu Yan’s ear:

“Be good. Don’t make a sound.”

He then pulled the blanket over him.

Xu Yan kicked off his shoes and curled up under the covers, fumbling to fix his clothes and lay flat, not daring to move.

He vaguely heard the door open, then some unclear conversation between Wen Sinian and Zhuang Sheng. After a while, the study door shut again.

Xu Yan waited a little longer before cautiously poking his head out. Seeing the room now empty, he slowly crawled out of bed.

After putting the first-aid kit back in its place, he stepped into the courtyard and saw that Shen Nanli and the others had already gone home. His grandmother was watching Wen Sinian tidy things up.

He was about to go over and help, but Wen Sinian had already walked quickly toward him. “Why did you come out?”

    Xu Yan worried, “Your hand…”

    “It’s fine. I’ve finished everything.”

“What do you mean fine? You’re not allowed to do anything like this for the next few days until it’s fully healed.”

In the past, even when he fractured a finger while practicing boxing, he still went about his duties as usual. But now, with just a scraped hand, he was being nagged and fussed over.

    Wen Sinian smiled. “Okay.”

Grandma chuckled, “Talked to him half a day and couldn’t convince him, but your one sentence did the trick. Should’ve just left it to you earlier. I’m going to bed.”

She waved at the young couple and went inside.

It was almost 1 a.m. Wen Sinian also said, “Then I’ll head…”

But Xu Yan suddenly murmured something softly. Wen Sinian paused. “What did you say just now?”

Xu Yan looked embarrassed, turning his head as he walked back toward the house. “If you didn’t hear it, then forget it.”

Wen Sinian caught up in just a few steps, wrapping his arms tightly around Xu Yan’s waist, pulling the soft body flush against his chest.

With a low chuckle from his chest: “You want me to stay over, right?”

Xu Yan explained, “It’s just… it’s already really late. Driving out now isn’t safe. And the motel owner probably went home for the holiday. They might not even be open anymore. Plus, you’re coming back first thing tomorrow anyway. Going back and forth is a waste of time…”

Wen Sinian asked gently, “If you’re okay with me staying overnight… does that mean you’ve forgiven me?”

Xu Yan turned to face him. “Do you want me to forgive you?”

Wen Sinian: “I’ve dreamed of it, baby.”

Xu Yan looked at him for a while, then blinked. “Fine, I forgive you. Grandma said you’re not supposed to argue on the first day of the new year, otherwise, you’ll fight all year long.”

Wen Sinian laughed, “Didn’t you say that’s just something they tell kids?”

Xu Yan reached up to ruffle his hair, smiling sweetly, “Well, you’re a kid too.”

He added, “But if we’re getting back together, there are conditions.”

    Wen Sinian asked, “What conditions?”

Xu Yan counted on his fingers. “First, you absolutely must not lie to me again.”

    “I won’t. Ever.”

“Second, don’t monitor me anymore. Support the things I want to do.”

    “I fully support you.”

“Third, you have to listen to me. Don’t make me mad again.”

“Okay. I’ll listen to everything you say.”

“Fourth…” Xu Yan’s voice lowered, “Don’t do that again like before… if I say stop, you have to stop.”

Wen Sinian held his waist. “Anything else?”

Xu Yan held out his pinky. “Fifth, unless I allow it, you’re not allowed to get hurt anymore. You must eat and sleep well and take care of your health. This may be the last one, but it’s the most important…”

Wen Sinian had already stopped hearing what he was saying—he could only feel his warm breath so close.

    He responded softly, “Okay.”

Then lowered his head and kissed him.

The living room lights were turned off, and the house fell into complete darkness.

Two entwined silhouettes closed the door to the small study. Xu Yan was pressed against the door, legs lifted and wrapped around Wen Sinian, their kiss even more intense than before.

His breath was completely stolen, his body nearly melting.

They had just reconciled, did this man ever think about anything else?

…But remembering how well Wen Sinian had behaved these past days, maybe he deserved a small reward.

Xu Yan’s thoughts grew messy. It wasn’t until he was carried to the bed and felt a cold breeze on his legs that he realized, if this kept going, it wouldn’t be “just” a small reward.

Wen Sinian, worried he’d get cold, pulled the blanket over them.

Xu Yan seized the chance to roll out from under him, quickly burrowing into the bed and wrapping himself tightly in the quilt, just like the first time.

Wen Sinian laughed, reaching out to pull him back. “Cold?”

Xu Yan’s pants had already been tossed aside. His bare legs pressed against the sheets, and he quickly said, “You should sleep in the other room tonight. That bed’s big.”

Wen Sinian, still holding him through the blanket, began unbuttoning his outerwear. “That bed was meant for your senior.”

Xu Yan said, “I’ll just help you change the sheets and bedding.”

Wen Sinian moved to take off his undershirt. “No need for all that. I’ll sleep in your bed.”

    “Raise your arms.”

Xu Yan refused, he wasn’t wearing anything underneath.

“No. My bed’s too small. It can’t fit two people. You’ll push me off.”

    “I’ll sleep on the outside.”

Still, Xu Yan didn’t agree. If they shared a bed, there’s no way they’d just sleep.

Especially when his lower half had only just recovered, he couldn’t take another “injury.”

“Oh, right. I remember there’s a folding bed next to the closet. Go check.”

Wen Sinian didn’t move, still hugging him.

Xu Yan urged, “Go on! Aren’t you listening?”

Finally, Wen Sinian kissed his soft cheek, placed him gently on the bed, and went to find the fold-out single bed.

He did try to sleep, but the bed was only wide enough for one person, lying down, he couldn’t even turn over.

Xu Yan had Wen Sinian bring a new blanket and instructed, “If you feel cold, turn on the little heater. It’s very warm.”

After saying that, he curled up alone on the bed, watching as Wen Sinian turned on the heater and placed it at the foot of his bed.

Xu Yan softly asked, “Aren’t you cold?”

Wen Sinian patted his blanket. “I’m not cold. Go to sleep.”

Xu Yan closed his eyes, trying to fall asleep, but the leg and foot closer to the inside of the bed weren’t warmed by the heater. They still felt icy and uncomfortable.

As he lay there, he unconsciously curled up into a ball again.

In his half-asleep state, he suddenly felt his ankle being grasped by a hand, pulling his foot toward a place filled with warmth.

Soon, both of his legs were enveloped in that scorching heat, a familiar sensation, firm and resilient, filled with strength and security.

Wen Sinian knew he couldn’t warm the bed on his own. He took off his shirt, held Xu Yan close, and sure enough, Xu Yan, like a little cat, instinctively sought out the warmth and snuggled against him.

Wen Sinian simply got onto Xu Yan’s bed, encircling him entirely in his arms, using his body heat to slowly warm and melt him.

After being held so tightly for a while, Xu Yan was roused by the heat. He pushed absentmindedly against the wall of muscle in front of him, slowly opening his eyes to meet a pair of lowered, dark eyes.

Xu Yan froze. He had clearly seen Wen Sinian lie down on the foldable bed, how did he end up in his bed?

    And… why wasn’t he wearing a shirt?

Wen Sinian saw the dazed look in his eyes, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he leaned down to capture Xu Yan’s lips, gently nibbling and licking. It was as if there was always a pool of sweet water inside, and he could never get enough.

Xu Yan tilted his face upward, his mind already foggy from sleep, and the kisses made him even more disoriented.

He had been kissed countless times tonight alone.

He didn’t even need to take a step toward Wen Sinian, just a crook of his finger, and Wen Sinian’s soul would follow.

Wen Sinian was incredibly attentive. After kissing him for a while, he would pull away to let Xu Yan catch his breath before leaning in again.

This went on repeatedly until Xu Yan’s tongue ached, and he covered his mouth, refusing to let Wen Sinian touch him again.

Wen Sinian stuck out his tongue, slowly licking his lips like a beast that had been fed but was still unsatisfied.

He lifted Xu Yan slightly, pulling him closer, and coaxed softly, “Alright, no more kissing.”

Xu Yan still didn’t lower his hand, so Wen Sinian kissed the back of it.

    “Can I kiss somewhere else?”

Xu Yan looked at him with wide, misty eyes, not yet understanding what he meant.

The next second, Wen Sinian burrowed under the blanket.

Xu Yan quickly realized what was happening, but his ankles were already held firmly in one hand. He tried to arch his body to escape, but it was too late.

The temperature under the blanket continued to rise.

After some time, Wen Sinian emerged from under the blanket, lying on his back and pulling Xu Yan onto himself.

Xu Yan’s legs were still trembling and twitching, his back being soothed by a large hand moving up and down. He curled up on top of Wen Sinian, his head resting on Wen Sinian’s chest, his feet pressed against Wen Sinian’s knees.

He shivered, tears and sweat dripping from his body.

Wen Sinian touched his nose, the tip of it wet.
