Read And Be Lazy
    Chapter Index

The ring was cold, but the slender fingers were burning hot.

Xu Yan slowly melted like ointment, frowning as he endured.

Wen Sinian patted him lightly on the hip: “Relax.”

It was only after quite a while that everything ended. Xu Yan squinted and soon drifted back to sleep.

It was already the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, the holiday over, people everywhere returning to work.

Wen Sinian had to return to Beishi. Since overseas didn’t celebrate Spring Festival, his cooperation with the big company in New York had piled up quite a bit of work during this period.

But he never planned to go back alone. If Xu Yan didn’t go with him, he would simply have Zheng Yao send over the documents and computer, working online was no different.

Unexpectedly, when Xu Yan woke up at noon, he dragged his tired body out of bed and began asking Wen Sinian to help him pack his luggage.

Wen Sinian paused, realizing this meant Xu Yan had agreed to go back with him. Pleased, he served him gladly, even thoughtfully packing the grandmother’s luggage as well.

After all, wherever the grandmother was, Xu Yan’s heart would follow.

Though it was a little manipulative, Wen Sinian sincerely said, “The medical conditions in Beishi are better. Your grandmother hasn’t been discharged long, it’s best to have a check-up every half a month. Going back and forth is too troublesome. Why not move in with me instead? That way you won’t miss school, your grandmother’s health won’t be affected, and you can still live together to take care of her. How about it?”

Xu Yan didn’t need to think, he knew Wen Sinian was offering the optimal solution.

Wen Sinian went on: “When you have classes, the housekeeper can take care of your grandmother. The current aunty also knows about rehabilitation and can help.”

Xu Yan sat on the edge of the bed, his calves swinging idly inside his trouser legs, head tilted as Wen Sinian tried to persuade him while rolling up his sleeves to help pack clothes.

Of course Xu Yan could have packed himself, but Wen Sinian had kept him busy the entire night.

His legs had been spread apart and bound by a belt, and when finally released, he couldn’t close them. He thought he might end up half-paralyzed.

During the New Year, Wen Sinian had practically become his housekeeper, cooking, doing laundry, tidying up the house. He even caught chickens and ducks, fed rabbits milk. At first he was terribly clumsy, but now he handled chores with surprising ease.

Xu Yan’s mind drifted off, if Lin Xingxian saw Wen Sinian so domesticated, wouldn’t she think someone else had taken over his body?

Wen Sinian zipped the suitcase shut and pushed it aside, then came over to the bed.

    “This arrangement works, baby.”

Xu Yan replied, “Still have to ask Grandma’s opinion.”

Wen Sinian took charge of speaking with her, and it went far smoother than expected. The only thing she held back on was the length of stay.

She only said they would live there for convenience for a while, without mentioning permanently settling.

Xu Yan was surprised, though old, his grandmother’s acceptance was unexpectedly strong. She seemed to carry a calmness that everything except life and death was trivial.

His liking for men was quietly accepted by her in this way.

Of course, she still had her moments of shock.

Back in Beishi, standing outside Wen Sinian’s private villa, the grandmother stood stunned for quite a while, unable to take it in.

She had always known Wen Sinian came from a good family, but never expected it to be this good.

Xu Yan came over, took her arm, and whispered in her ear: “This isn’t bought by his family. He bought it with his own money. Isn’t that amazing?”

The grandmother couldn’t help giving a thumbs-up: “I knew it from the start, this child is accomplished.”

Wen Sinian stood beside them, his face wearing a gentle smile as he looked at the pair.

“In Wuzhen, it was you who took me in, cooked noodles for me, and prayed for my safety.”

He stepped forward and took her other arm. Under the sunlight, the three shadows leaned together, like an inseparable family.

“You let me treat Wuzhen as home. From now on, this will be your home in Beishi as well.”

Before returning, Xu Yan had to give the chicks and ducklings away to the neighboring farmer, but when it came to the little lop-eared rabbit, he absolutely refused to part with it. He held it in his arms the whole way back.

The bunny’s health had improved, and it, too, had “risen to glory.” From a tiny incubator it had moved into a big house, with its meals specially prepared by the housekeeper, its status practically that of the crown prince of the family.

Xu Yan doted on it endlessly. Every day he had to hold, kiss, and pet it for a long while, playing with it, and if he could, he would have even slept with it in his arms at night.

But of course, that wasn’t possible, because he himself was already held in someone’s arms every night.

Since Grandma’s legs weren’t convenient, she lived on the first floor, and Xu Yan went back to his old room on the second floor to sleep.

    On the surface.

In reality, Wen Sinian would secretly carry him into the master bedroom every night, or simply crawl into his room to sleep together.

Because that time with handcuffs and belts had gone too far, Xu Yan’s poor little backside suffered. For several days, he forbade Wen Sinian from touching him.

Kissing and cuddling were fine, but anything more was off-limits, otherwise, they weren’t even sharing the same bed.

Of course, the one who felt most distressed over the red and swollen marks was Wen Sinian. Three times a day he applied medicine without fail. Xu Yan claimed he could apply it himself and really did sneak into the bathroom with the ointment, locking the door. But no matter how long he took, Wen Sinian would always wait at the door, using all kinds of excuses to restrain him, saying it was just to “check whether he applied it properly,” before carefully helping him.

After being caught a few times, Xu Yan gave up resisting. He even started obediently handing the ointment to Wen Sinian, then laying face-down across his lap, urging: “Hurry up…” Wen Sinian liked to press his middle and ring fingers together, deliberately never removing the ring. The icy metal always made Xu Yan shiver all over, his legs trembling and squeezing together.

The ointment not only reduced swelling but also nourished the skin. In less than a week, Xu Yan had completely healed.

When Lin Xingxian learned they were back, he wanted to visit immediately, but Wen Sinian forbade it, and even secretly changed the house’s passcode. When Lin Xingxian couldn’t open the door, he felt something was wrong. Rushing to the studio, he found that his art room had been converted into a storage space by Wen Sinian. His treasured tools and works had already been neatly packed and sent back to his home.

“Wen Sinian! What the hell are you doing?!” Lin Xingxian pointed at his nose, feeling betrayed. “How could you be so petty? So what if I used your office? Those things were fine in the basement, why have them moved up here to take my place? What are you playing at?!”

Wen Sinian sat behind the screen, eyes lit by a cold dark glow, his tone frosty: “I told you to move out.”

Lin Xingxian was at a loss, Wen Sinian had indeed said that before, but he hadn’t taken it seriously.
    “You mean you were serious?!”

Wen Sinian: “Since you didn’t have time, I found someone to help you.”

Lin Xingxian slammed the desk, furious enough to bite: “Those paintings are valuable! Don’t you dare damage them!”

Wen Sinian: “If they’re ruined, I’ll compensate.”

Lin Xingxian fumed: “Don’t forget, I still have leverage over you! I’ve been keeping your secret. If I tell Yanyan about all your perverted behavior, let’s see how arrogant you can still be!”

…He really had to bring that up.

Lin Xingxian suddenly felt that Wen Sinian’s presence had become terrifying.

He stood up from behind the screen.

    He rolled up his sleeves.

    He was walking toward him!!

Was he going to beat him up?!
