Crossdress Ch39part1
by 707Xu Yan forced a smile. “Probably Nanli texting. He’s probably fine. I’ll check later.”
Fortunately, Wen Sinian just replied with an “Mm,” without suspicion.
To get back to campus faster, they were driving quickly. Along the way, they passed a service area, and Wen Sinian pulled into the parking lot.
“Want something to drink?”
There was no water in the car, so he planned to buy some.
Xu Yan politely replied, “Just water is fine, thank you.”
Wen Sinian: “Wait in the car.”
Xu Yan: “Okay.”
Wen Sinian got out of the car and headed toward the nearby convenience store.
Xu Yan quickly grabbed his phone, unlocked it, and opened his alt account to check the messages.
[Year]: We’re still dating before the breakup.
[Year]: Baby
[Year]: Are you still wearing the leg chain like a good boy?
[Year]: Send me a pic for inspection.
Xu Yan stared at his phone in shock, frozen for several seconds.
Year was actually making this kind of demand at a time like this? Thinking back to how calm and composed Wen Sinian looked while sending those messages just now, Xu Yan couldn’t reconcile the texts with his face at all.
No wonder he didn’t realize it at first, just imagining it felt incredibly out of character.
Perhaps because Xu Yan didn’t reply for a while, a new message popped up.
[Year]: So you took it off?
[Year]: Baby, do you think I’m that easy to fool?
Xu Yan quickly typed back.
[Yanyan]: I bet you didn’t keep wearing yours either.
When Wen Sinian helped him into the car earlier, Xu Yan’s arm had accidentally brushed against his chest, and now that he thought about it, he hadn’t felt any chest chain there.
[Yanyan]: You’re bluffing too.
But the other side instantly sent back a new photo, same type as last night’s. The chest chain was indeed still being worn. The camera angle was slightly different, so it was clearly a new photo.
Xu Yan glanced at it quickly but still frowned in doubt, not fully convinced it had just been taken.
Before Wen Sinian returned, he quickly fished out the butterfly-shaped leg chain for his calf from his backpack and bent over to put it back on.
He gave up on the thigh one. He’d just take a random photo to pass it off to Year.
That’s what he thought, but his fingers fumbled with urgency and nerves. The clasp kept slipping. It took several tries before he managed to fasten it.
Finally done, he quickly snapped a picture and sent it.
Just as the photo was sent, the driver’s door suddenly opened.
Xu Yan nearly jumped out of his skin. He yanked down his pant leg and clutched his phone, looking up with a panicked, lost expression.
Wen Sinian got in carrying a bag, first taking out a bottle of mineral water. He opened it and handed it over.
Xu Yan was still shaken and murmured, “Thanks.”
He was a bit worried. Had Wen Sinian seen what he’d been doing just now? But no, his reaction had been fast. He must’ve covered it well.
Wen Sinian took more drinks out of the bag and placed them in the back seat. “There’s also juice and soda. I didn’t know what you liked, so I bought a bit of everything.”
So the whole bag was full of drinks, and all for him. No wonder it took so long.
Xu Yan quickly said, “Water is fine…”
“Just keep the rest for now.”
Wen Sinian opened a coffee for himself and then checked his phone.
Xu Yan held the water, sipping while watching Wen Sinian from the corner of his eye, trying to guess his reaction to the photo.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t tell anything.
Those long, sharp eyes narrowed slightly were completely unreadable.
When Wen Sinian started typing, Xu Yan subtly lowered his phone to his thigh, using his body to hide the screen while peeking at it.
[Year]: Just put it on?
The chain around his fair calf looked a bit messy. The links were even slightly tangled. It clearly showed signs of being rushed.
Xu Yan felt like he had the god-view perspective, yet Year’s ridiculously sharp intuition still startled him.
[Yanyan]: It wasn’t!
[Year]: What about the one on your thigh?
Wen Sinian noticed he’d finished the water and started the car.
[Yanyan]: You didn’t even see everything!
As the car hadn’t pulled out yet, Xu Yan kept shielding his phone while glancing sideways, just in time to see Wen Sinian open his photo album. His long fingers were slowly scrolling.
He only peeked briefly, then quickly looked away, sitting stiffly against the seat.
He wasn’t unfamiliar with Wen Sinian’s photo album, because it was filled entirely with him.
Photos of him wearing all kinds of cute dresses. Not a single other thing. Judging by how naturally he flipped through them, they were clearly well-worn… looked at again and again until nearly memorized.
Xu Yan unscrewed his bottle and sipped, cheeks slowly heating up again, and not cooling down.
Wen Sinian seemed to find the photo he wanted and sent it over.
Xu Yan secretly looked down.
Two new photos, showing the chest chain from different angles.
[Year]: Just took it.
[Year]: Baby, are you satisfied?
Xu Yan turned his head toward the driver. Wen Sinian had already locked his screen and said calmly, “Let’s go.”
Then the car slowly pulled out of the parking lot.
Xu Yan was still looking at him, lips slightly parted. He seemed genuinely shocked at how Wen Sinian could lie so shamelessly with a straight face.
Clearly picked from his old stash. How could he boldly lie and say it was just taken?
‘He’s totally bluffing.’
Thinking about it now, Xu Yan figured he must’ve been tricked plenty of times in the past too.
A quiet, irrational fury stirred in his chest. But he had nowhere to vent it. And to think, he’d just anxiously put the chain back on like a fool.
[Yanyan]: Liar.
[Yanyan]: You’re such a big fat liar.
[Yanyan]: I’m never believing you again!
After sending those, Xu Yan shoved the phone into his pocket and crossed his arms, silently fuming.
Wen Sinian caught his reaction and let out a barely audible laugh from his throat. Acting innocent, he asked, “What’s wrong?”
Xu Yan dragged his anger into reality too. What’s wrong? He had the audacity to ask that?
He said stiffly, “Nothing.”
He wasn’t going to explain and didn’t want to talk to him.
Wen Sinian wasn’t upset by his bad attitude. Instead, his tone grew gentler, like he was coaxing him. “Hungry?”
Xu Yan was a little hungry, but he decided not to answer and just nodded coldly.
Wen Sinian reminded him, “Eat the cake first. I’ll take you out to eat after we get back.”
Xu Yan took out the small cake, stabbed a piece with the fork, imagined the sweet and creamy frosting as the person beside him, and angrily chomped it down, chewing hard before swallowing.
He thought his expression must be fierce, but in reality, he looked more like an annoyed kitten, clumsily pawing with its soft little paws, completely harmless.
After finishing the cake, a wet wipe was handed over. Xu Yan took it, wiped his mouth, and threw it away.
Still a bit mad, he decided not to say thank you.
The car soon returned to the city, but instead of taking him back to school directly, Wen Sinian detoured to the hospital to get an X-ray of Xu Yan’s sprained ankle.
Even though Xu Yan repeatedly said it wasn’t serious and that a few days’ rest would fix it, Wen Sinian was firm. He didn’t let him go until he heard the doctor confirm that it was indeed fine.
Before going back, he also took Xu Yan for a meal.
Xu Yan had already eaten the cream cake and chocolates in the car, so he wasn’t hungry at all. He barely touched his food and just sipped juice while watching Wen Sinian slowly finish his meal.
When Wen Sinian dropped him back off at school, he even walked him all the way to the boys’ dorm. Only then did he leave.
After all the detours, Xu Yan ended up returning even later than the other students.
His ankle injury wasn’t serious, and it healed within a few days.
But during that time, he was constantly anxious about the upcoming in-person meeting with Year. Now that he knew Year was Wen Sinian, he felt even more scared.
Wen Sinian didn’t really pressure him and kept waiting for his decision.
Xu Yan thought of all kinds of ways, like wearing a mask and hat so his face wouldn’t be seen during the meeting, or suggesting a masquerade party where he could wear a mask. He even considered backing out completely.
But what if the mask or hat got pulled off? And there were too many people at a masquerade, if he got exposed there, it’d be worse. And backing out? Wen Sinian probably had a hundred ways to track him down if he really wanted to.
Xu Yan was troubled for days. Even in class, he looked constantly worried.
Shen Nanli noticed something was wrong. After asking him several times with no clear answer, he and Shang Jia invited Xu Yan out to eat together, intending to get him to open up.
The two of them cornered him and questioned him until Xu Yan finally caved under the pressure.
He confessed… but not everything.
When they heard it was just a meetup with Year, they were shocked that it had stressed Xu Yan out so much.
Shang Jia comforted him, “It’s fine, it’s fine. It’s just a meetup, right? Worst case, if it doesn’t go well, you break up, problem solved!”
Shen Nanli added, “Yeah, Yanyan. You and Year have been talking for a while now. Your online romance must’ve been at least two months, right? It’s not strange that he wants to meet. If you’re scared, we’ll go with you.”
Shang Jia nodded. “Yup! We’ll go with you. Let’s see who this demon is that’s got our baby Yan this worked up!”
Xu Yan couldn’t say it, he couldn’t tell them that he already knew who Year was, or that he’d been online dating Wen Sinian. The fewer people who knew, the better.
“I just… don’t want him to know what I look like,” Xu Yan said. “And I don’t have anything else to say to him when we meet, I’m only going to break up.”
They were both stunned.
Shang Jia: “Break up?!”
Shen Nanli: “Huh? It’s only been two months, and the first in-person meeting is for breaking up?”
Shang Jia: “You don’t want to reconsider?”
Xu Yan had made up his mind. “I just think… this kind of relationship isn’t right. Better to end it sooner.”
They didn’t try to talk him out of it and instead focused on supporting his decision and helping him plan.
Shang Jia offered, “So the problem is that you don’t want him to know what you really look like? That’s easy.”
Xu Yan asked, “How?”
Shang Jia smiled mysteriously. “You just have to crossdress!”
Shen Nanli chimed in, “Would that work?”
Xu Yan had crossdressed in front of Wen Sinian before, like at the café, where he even wore light makeup, but Wen Sinian still recognized him right away.
He hesitated. “I’m afraid he’ll see through it again.”
But Shang Jia confidently pulled out some of her selfies and showed them.
