Read And Be Lazy
    Chapter Index

Shen Nanli, sitting beside him, leaned in curiously. “What’s the big deal about sharing a room with Wen Sinian? You guys were already roommates anyway.”

Xu Yan stammered, unable to form a coherent sentence, barely holding on to a calm expression.

He handed his room assignment slip to Shen Nanli, trying to coax him. “Nanli, would you… swap rooms with me?”

Shen Nanli flat-out refused: “Absolutely not!”

Xu Yan looked like he was about to cry, lips tightly pressed together, his gaze full of pitiful desperation.

Shen Nanli’s heart softened, but he still pushed Xu Yan’s hand back. “Yanyan, it’s not that I don’t want to switch with you. I wouldn’t mind whoever the roommate was, but Wen Sinian…”

Shen Nanli shivered. “Spare me. He scares the hell out of me. If I share a room with him, I’ll probably be too anxious to sleep all night.”

Xu Yan didn’t dare tell the truth. At this point, he was the one who should be afraid of Wen Sinian, not the other way around…

He just wanted to stay far away from him and avoid any more contact. Since Shen Nanli wouldn’t switch, he had to ask someone else.

The rest of the students finished drawing their room assignments. With the sleeping arrangements settled, the night activities began.

Unlike the competitive atmosphere in the daytime, the evening vibe was more relaxed. Students from different academies and majors mingled, eating, drinking, and playing together.

Some people had even brought alcohol and were sharing it among groups. The teachers turned a blind eye, only reminding everyone to stay safe and keep away from the sea if drinking.

Xu Yan’s group joined a few others, sitting in a circle around the bonfire, drinking and chatting.

Across the fire, on the opposite side, was Li Huaiche’s group. Xu Yan half-heartedly talked to the people next to him, distracted and sneaking glances across the flames.

Wen Sinian had disappeared after their talk earlier and only returned in the evening. He was now sitting near Li Huaiche’s group, holding a wine glass, politely sipping whenever someone offered a toast.

His pitch-black eyes suddenly locked across the fire, right at Xu Yan.

Xu Yan’s eyes widened in panic. He whipped his head away and silently prayed that Wen Sinian hadn’t noticed.

Wen Sinian downed the rest of his drink and kept staring at that fluffy head turned away from him.

Like a kitten. Round, soft… just begging to be touched.

Zheng Yao came over with a drink and sat beside him, pouring him another glass. “Wen-Ge, where’d you go this afternoon? Didn’t see you at all.”

Wen Sinian didn’t look over, voice cold: “Had something to do.”

Zheng Yao followed his gaze, growing suspicious. Was he staring at someone in Xu Yan’s group?

“Was it IP tracking again?” he teased. “Is it about your online lover?”

He immediately regretted it, worried the question might upset Wen Sinian.

To his shock, Wen Sinian’s lips curled ever so slightly. He didn’t deny it.

    “Mhm.”

    Zheng Yao: “?!”

“No way, Wen-Ge, you actually have a girlfriend?!”

The revelation hit Zheng Yao like a truck. Everyone in their studio always said Wen Sinian seemed emotionally detached, like he didn’t care about anyone, male or female.

They never expected him to actually have a girlfriend. And he kept it so well hidden, no one had even seen her!

“You’re surprised?” Wen Sinian’s gaze shifted, lightly brushing past him.

Zheng Yao’s face was a mess of exclamation marks: “Of course I’m surprised!”

“Who is she, Wen-Ge? Is she from our school? When can you introduce her? What does she look like? Is she pretty?”

“She’s very pretty,” Wen Sinian said, eyes resting on a slender silhouette across the fire. He took another sip of wine. “And very… lovable.”

Zheng Yao was so stunned by this rare display of tenderness that he nearly broke out in goosebumps.

As Wen Sinian’s eyes drifted toward the opposite group again, Zheng Yao casually said, “We did a draw earlier to decide tonight’s room assignments. Xu Yan drew Room 1, the same room as you. What a coincidence.”

Wen Sinian chuckled. “Quite the coincidence.”

He’d already made arrangements with the sports committee ahead of time. Rigging the draw wasn’t difficult.

Zheng Yao continued, “But your junior didn’t seem too happy about sharing a room with you. He’s been trying to switch all evening, he even came to ask me…”

His words were cut off by a sudden sharp shift in atmosphere.

Wen Sinian’s tone dropped, each word forced through clenched teeth: “Really?”

Zheng Yao sensed danger. “I, I didn’t switch with him! I snore when I sleep and didn’t want to disturb you. I just don’t know if he found someone else willing…”

    Clink.

Wen Sinian suddenly set his glass down with a loud thud and stood up.

    Zheng Yao stammered, “W-What’s wrong?”

“I need some air,” Wen Sinian said, already walking off toward the crowd.

Xu Yan had already asked everyone he could. Even though Room 1 had two beds, no one wanted to switch.

Defeated, he returned to his seat, clutching his assignment slip. Frustrated, he tilted his head back and downed the glass in front of him.

Shen Nanli warned him, “Slow down. You’ve got no tolerance for alcohol. One glass and you’re already drunk.”

Xu Yan heard him, and drank another anyway.

If he got drunk and passed out, maybe he could just sleep through the night and wake up to a new day.

But he had underestimated the strength of the liquor. His body started heating up, face burning as if lit on fire. His head spun, and even the bonfire looked blurry.

“Nanli…” Xu Yan tugged weakly at his sleeve. “My head’s spinning…”

Shen Nanli sighed. “Because you’re drunk.”

“Ah… drunk…” Xu Yan mumbled, knocking lightly on his head. He almost collapsed backwards onto the sand.

Shen Nanli quickly grabbed him. Xu Yan shook his head. “I’m not drunk. Just dizzy.”

“Yeah, yeah, sure,” Shen Nanli said, helping him up. “I’ll take you back to the room. No idea how long this party’s gonna last.”

He informed Xu Wenwen and the others, then guided the swaying Xu Yan toward the villa.

They’d barely walked a few steps when hurried footsteps caught up behind them.

Zhou Zhengyi rushed over and clung to Xu Yan. “Yanyan, what happened? Did you get drunk? I have some hangover meds. Should I go grab you a box?”

Shen Nanli quickly pulled Xu Yan closer, keeping Zhou Zhengyi away. “No need. I brought meds too. I’ll handle it, don’t worry.”

Zhou Zhengyi didn’t give up and tried to grab Xu Yan’s arm, but the groggy boy reflexively slapped his hand away.

Xu Yan frowned slightly. Though his mind was foggy and his consciousness scattered, his body reacted instinctively.

He didn’t like this person touching him.

    “Go… go away…”

    He frowned and shrank away.

Shen Nanli was barely able to support him. They nearly collapsed together.

But just then, a pair of strong arms emerged from the shadows, catching Xu Yan mid-fall.

A hand pressed against his back, gently pulling him into a firm chest.

Shen Nanli steadied himself and looked up, lit by the firelight was Wen Sinian’s face.

His attention was fully on the person in his arms. His head was lowered, one hand supporting Xu Yan’s slim waist, the other gripping his slender wrist.

Xu Yan had twisted his ankle just earlier, and now, hot and flushed, he lay limp against that broad chest. As soon as his foot touched the ground, pain shot through him.

He whimpered softly, and the chest holding him tensed noticeably.

“Does it hurt?” Wen Sinian’s voice was low, and the strength in his hands lessened a bit.

    Xu Yan frowned slightly, “Mmm…”

He lifted his eyes, his face a pool of glistening tears like scattered diamonds.

He caught a whiff of a familiar sandalwood scent, mixed with the smell of alcohol in the breath, which he inhaled deeply into his lungs.

His eyes blinked slowly as he recognized the person in front of him, and a sense of dependence seemed to arise. His mouth pouted pitifully, and he murmured softly.

    “Year…”

The soft voice drifted away with the wind, unheard by anyone except Wen Sinian.

Wen Sinian, with his hand pressing against Xu Yan’s back, applied a bit more force, causing their two bodies to suddenly press tightly together.

He reached out and gently touched the rosy lips, saying softly, “Shh.”

Xu Yan knew he was being told to be quiet. Confused, he was about to call out to him again when Wen Sinian directly pressed down on the back of his head. The face, flushed with a blush, was buried into the firm chest.

Xu Yan’s eyes widened, and his body stiffened. His brain, deprived of oxygen, seemed to shut down. He had no idea how to react, and the sound he was about to make was completely stifled in his throat.

Wen Sinian’s large hand supported the back of Xu Yan’s head, his long and powerful fingers weaving through the soft hair, gently caressing it a couple of times.

It was indeed very soft, very round, and very pleasant to touch.

In the darkness, no one could see his small actions. They only thought he was kindly helping Xu Yan avoid the bright light of the bonfire.

Finally able to spare some attention to the other two present, Wen Sinian said in a calm voice, “I’ll take him back.”

Shen Nanli would indeed have a hard time getting Xu Yan back by himself, and since they happened to live together, he nodded, “I need to go find some sobering medicine for Xu Yan.”

“No need,” Wen Sinian said, “There’s some in the room.”

Shen Nanli: “Then I’ll accompany you to help him back to the room.”

Wen Sinian didn’t refuse again, “Alright.”

The two of them, one on each side, supported Xu Yan. Noticing that Xu Yan was walking with his legs apart, Wen Sinian continued to steady his lower back as they headed towards the entrance of the villa.

Zhou Zhengyi stood motionless in his original spot, shocked and unable to move for a long time.

He knew that Wen Sinian had a special feeling for Xu Yan, but did Xu Yan have any feelings for Wen Sinian?

If not, how could he obediently snuggle into a man’s arms like a little cat?!

Room number one was located on the inside of the corridor on the second floor of the villa, around the corner. It was usually undisturbed and very quiet.

After Xu Yan was placed on the bed, his head tilted to the side, and he fell into a drunken slumber.

Shen Nanli took off his shoes, covered him with a blanket, and was about to go look for some sobering medicine.

“Wait a moment, I’ll come find you,” Wen Sinian stood at the door, “Just now, someone outside seemed to be calling you.”

Shen Nanli nodded, “Okay, then I’ll go back first. Xu Yan is very obedient even when drunk. Thank you, Senior, for giving him some sobering medicine later. There’s no need to pay attention to him; he will sleep deeply until dawn.”

    Wen Sinian remained calm, “Alright.”

Shen Nanli tucked Xu Yan in again and hurried downstairs.

Wen Sinian looked at the empty and dark corridor and slowly closed the door.

He turned off the ceiling light in the room and only turned on a dim and unclear small bedside lamp.

There were two beds. On the single bed near the window lay a small and thin figure that was not easily noticeable. Under the snow-white blanket was a face equally pure and flawless.

However, at this moment, it was tinged with a pink blush, and the small face was abnormally flushed. A faint scent of alcohol wafted over, intoxicating.

A tall figure slowly approached the bed. The dark shadow cast on the wall was like a silent and terrifying mountain, looming ominously and easily enveloping a soft and weak prey beneath it.

Wen Sinian leaned in closer, placing one hand beside him and using the other to gently stroke his cheek. The movement was slow but carried an irresistible pressure.

The smooth and delicate texture he had imagined countless times was even more incredibly soft and dense when actually held in his fingertips.

He couldn’t bear to part with it, lingering endlessly.

With his index and middle fingers pinched together, he gently lifted some of the soft flesh on his cheeks, playing with it between his fingers and eliciting a few soft moans from the sleeping Xu Yan.

Seemingly in pain, Xu Yan groggily opened his eyes a crack and unconsciously waved his arm in front of him.

With a crisp “slap,” Wen Sinian was hit on the cheek.

His breathing suddenly deepened, and he reached up to touch his face, his eyes narrowing slightly.

The force wasn’t strong, but the sensation was exceptionally clear.

A slight pain mixed with an indescribable pleasure suddenly rushed to his brain.

He looked at the person on the bed, who seemed a bit dazed, not angry but smiling. The corners of his lips curled up with a shallow smile, and the scorching heat approached the soft red ear, whispering softly,

    “Baby.”

    “Dare to hit me?”
