The next day, Xu Yan was fiddling with the camcorder on the couch. The housekeeper was the only one keeping him company, so he decided to film a few short clips of her for fun.

Suddenly, Zhuang Sheng called.

They hadn’t spoken in a while. With less than a week left before the New Year, Zhuang Sheng heard that Xu Yan wasn’t returning to Wuzhen and invited him out for a meal in Beishi.

Xu Yan’s guard went up, he was worried Zhuang Sheng might still have feelings for him.

But Zhuang Sheng quickly reassured him, admitting he had a boyfriend now and just wanted Xu Yan to meet him.

Upon hearing that, Xu Yan immediately agreed.

At dinner, he met Zhuang Sheng’s boyfriend, someone completely different from himself. The man was dressed in a pristine suit, his hair meticulously styled. He was the epitome of a successful businessman.

The man was also polite and refined, taking good care of both Zhuang Sheng and Xu Yan throughout the meal. Xu Yan had initially worried the dinner might be awkward, but it turned out to be quite the opposite. He even noticed how deeply in love the couple seemed.

It was clear Zhuang Sheng had truly moved on from the past.

When the man stepped out to take a call mid-meal, Zhuang Sheng leaned over and asked, “What about your guy?”

“He’s on a business trip. He’ll be back tomorrow.”

Zhuang Sheng nodded knowingly.
“No wonder you were able to come out and have dinner with me.”

Xu Yan retorted, unconvinced, “I could’ve had dinner with you even if he was home.”

Zhuang Sheng gave him an amused look.

“Really? I’ve never seen anyone with a more possessive roommate than yours. He should hate me to death. How could he possibly allow you to meet with me?”

“That’s just a misunderstanding on his part,” Xu Yan explained. “If he knew you had a boyfriend, he definitely wouldn’t be so hostile toward you. He’s actually a really good person.”

Zhuang Sheng remained skeptical.

“You’re really not going home this year?”

“I’m not,” Xu Yan replied. “I’m staying in Beishi with my grandma for the New Year. What about you, Zhuang-Ge? Are you going back?”

Xu Yan remembered his grandma mentioning that Zhuang Sheng had a huge fallout with his family when he came out.

“I am,” Zhuang Sheng said as his boyfriend returned from taking a call. He smiled. “I’m bringing him with me.”

Xu Yan was surprised but also moved by Zhuang Sheng’s courage.

Just then, a video call request popped up on Xu Yan’s phone. He immediately declined it.
We’re seeing each other tomorrow anyway. What’s the point of video-calling tonight?

A message followed, two cold, concise words:

[Husband]: Where

Dinner was already over. The three of them were standing outside the restaurant waiting for the valet to bring the car. It wouldn’t be more than 30 minutes before Xu Yan was home. Still, he got a bit nervous and told a small white lie:

[Dumb Baby]: I’m at home

[Husband]: Really?

[Husband]: Answer the video call

Another video request came in. Xu Yan didn’t dare pick it up and declined it again.

[Dumb Baby]: I’m taking a shower, wait a moment

[Husband]: How long

[Dumb Baby]: Thirty minutes

[Husband]: One minute

Zhuang Sheng, seeing Xu Yan glued to his phone, kindly nudged his elbow to get his attention. But Xu Yan didn’t even register it, too busy frantically typing:

[Dumb Baby]: I just started! How can one minute be enough?

[Dumb Baby]: You’re being unreasonable. I never video call you when you’re in the shower.

[Dumb Baby]: Are you just trying to bully me again…

Before he could finish typing, the one minute was up.

Suddenly, a large hand reached out and took the phone right out of his grasp.

Xu Yan slowly looked up. Seeing the man standing right in front of him, his eyes blinked in stunned disbelief, praying this was just a dream.

Unfortunately, no matter how many times he blinked, Wen Sinian didn’t disappear. He even pressed the phone screen off and tucked it into Xu Yan’s pocket.

Then he raised a hand and gently pressed it to Xu Yan’s soft lips, massaging lightly.

His deep voice carried a trace of laughter, but there was a thin layer of repressed anger beneath it: “You were taking a shower?”

Xu Yan’s heart thudded wildly in his chest, part joy at seeing Wen Sinian again, part panic for being caught in a lie, and part dread for what might happen next.

He stammered, “I, I was just about to shower… Aren’t you supposed to be back tomorrow? Why, why are you here today…?”

Not only had he come back early, how had he known where Xu Yan was?

Wen Sinian said nothing.

The valet had just pulled up in the white Bentley. Xu Yan was ushered into the passenger seat and buckled in. Still dazed, he managed to roll down the window and wave goodbye to Zhuang Sheng and his boyfriend.

But Wen Sinian, seeing that, slowly rolled the window back up and drove off.

On the way home, the tension was thick in the air.

As soon as the car pulled into the basement garage and stopped, Wen Sinian unbuckled Xu Yan’s seatbelt. Before he could even speak, Xu Yan was lifted by the waist and pulled onto the driver’s seat.

A heated, almost violent kiss followed immediately.

It had only been six days, but Wen Sinian had already been going crazy with longing.

He had wanted to give Xu Yan a surprise by coming home early, only to find his beloved having dinner with his former suitor.

It took every ounce of self-control not to explode in public. Now, with them alone, he wanted nothing more than to punish Xu Yan thoroughly.

Xu Yan’s lips were sealed tightly, his mouth thoroughly invaded, his breathing ragged. His cheeks flushed red, and soft, shaky whimpers escaped between kisses.

But that only made Wen Sinian more ravenous, he crushed the smaller body against him, occupying every inch of space between them, letting his burning desire surge without restraint.

The past few days, he had relied on nightly video calls just to soothe the ache. But after upsetting Xu Yan and getting ignored for several days, he couldn’t even see his face or hear his voice.

Wen Sinian had opened the monitoring software hundreds of times each day, tracing Xu Yan’s every move, imagining what he was doing and who he was with.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to give Xu Yan freedom.

It was that the mere idea of losing control made him feel panicked, irritable, and insane.

Now that he finally had Xu Yan in his arms again, able to touch, hold, and possess him without barriers, it felt overwhelmingly satisfying.

Xu Yan trembled violently, his back pressed hard against the steering wheel. The pressure made his eyes sting with unshed tears. His arms were weak, his voice airy as he tried to resist:

“Wen… wait… don’t…”

But his pushes were feather-light, and Wen Sinian only drew him in closer.

“No, don’t…” His voice cracked, fingers weakly clutching at the shirt buttons, burying his face in the other man’s neck, panting softly.

“No, the, ” Wen Sinian kissed his hot earlobe, his tongue gently licking and teasing, savoring the moans only he could draw from him. His scalp tingled with every sound.

“Baby, this is your punishment,” Wen Sinian suddenly opened the car door, lifting him out. He whispered in his ear, “No protection tonight.”
Xu Yan didn’t know how he was carried back to the master bedroom. He had never felt so acutely aware, his senses seemed amplified, every slight movement enough to make him tremble. He was a bowstring pulled taut, his long, fair neck like a beautiful, fragile swan, easily gripped and controlled by a large hand.

Wen Sinian didn’t use any technique, just raw, overwhelming force.

When Xu Yan tried to crawl away, sobbing, Wen Sinian grabbed his ankle and dragged him back, leaning down to pat his face, which was on the verge of fainting.

“Don’t sleep, baby.”

“You know it’ll be worse if you do.” he murmured.

Xu Yan’s pupils couldn’t focus, his vision blurring, unable to process anything. Wen Sinian pulled him from the depths, tenderly brushing his sweat-soaked cheek.

“Who said you could go on a date with another man behind your husband’s back?”

“Is this how you want me to punish you?” Xu Yan couldn’t speak, passing out, only to wake up crying again and again.

He didn’t know how much time had passed, but when he finally opened his eyes, he heard the sound of water running in the bathroom. He was wrapped in a blanket, lying on a nearly soaked bed.

He should have been hungry, but when he touched his stomach, tears welled up. He didn’t need to eat anything else, he was already full inside, almost to the point of bursting. He curled up in the blanket, cradling his poor little belly, crying in despair.

As he shifted, he felt something poking his lower back. With effort, he pulled out his long-eared bunny, its fur damp and matted. The bunny’s black eyes seemed to accuse him, as if it had witnessed everything. Xu Yan pouted, tears falling again.

Wen Sinian emerged from the bathroom to find him hugging the bedraggled bunny, sobbing his heart out. He pulled Xu Yan from the blanket, feeling the sticky warmth on his skin, and coaxed softly, “Let’s get you cleaned up, okay? It’s not good to leave it in.”

Xu Yan pressed the bunny to Wen Sinian’s chest, his voice hoarse: “You… you got my bunny dirty…” Wen Sinian glanced at the soiled toy.

“Baby, you’re the one who got it dirty.”

It was true, it was all his own doing. Xu Yan sniffled, “It’s because you bullied me. I told you to stop, I begged you. It’s only been a few days, and you’ve become so cruel…”

He turned away, hugging the bunny, utterly wronged. “I don’t want to talk to you anymore…”

Wen Sinian took the bunny from his hands, holding it in his large palm, making it look tiny. “It’s all my fault, okay? Don’t ignore me, baby. I’ll wash your bunny for you, all right?”

Xu Yan added, “Wash it by hand, gently, don’t wash off its ears.” Wen Sinian kissed his lips.

“Okay.” And he really went back into the bathroom with the bunny.

Xu Yan curled back under the blanket, his body aching as if he’d been torn apart. He was drifting off when Wen Sinian’s phone rang. Wen Sinian was still in the bathroom washing the bunny, so Xu Yan struggled to reach for the phone.

The call ended just as he picked it up, and he saw it was from Lin Xingxian.

He called out weakly toward the bathroom, but there was no response. As he was about to put the phone back, a message from Lin Xingxian popped up:

[Lin Xingxian]: Hide yourself well, just don’t get caught.

[Lin Xingxian]: I don’t know how any normal person could put up with you. If he finds out, he’ll break up with you for sure.

Wen Sinian had always said there were no secrets between them, and his phone was open for Xu Yan to check. He had even set it to unlock with his face. Xu Yan had never doubted him, never looked through his phone before.

But these messages made his heart skip a beat. Just as he was about to exit, a notification appeared: [Target device detected as powered off]. But Wen Sinian’s phone was clearly on. Confused, he turned and saw his own phone, dead, out of battery.
