Read And Be Lazy
    Chapter Index

    June.

It was the height of summer in Beijing. Lush greenery filled the city. Outside the Beijing Library building, graduates taking commemorative photos could be seen everywhere.

Some students were chatting while snapping pics, excitedly discussing the latest extra chapter of “Compatibility Rate: 200%”. Having just finished the most recent update, they were shouting that it just wasn’t enough!

“You stayed up late to finish the interstellar double-A bonus story of Wolf Ge and Pup too?!”

“Of course! It was so good! I want more!”

“Damn, why did the author end it with Love Letter Bro finishing his interview at the Marshal’s house? I still want to see the homebody Pup covered in hickeys!”

“Hahahaha, there’s gotta be more coming!”

    “Wait, wait—Is that Jiang Tian?!”

“Whoa! His boyfriend came with him too!!”

Some classmates noticed Jiang Tian had come to take graduation photos as well.

Tall and handsome, with a cold yet gentle expression, he wore his academic gown over a crisp white shirt. Simple yet striking, he carried himself with a strong presence.

His boyfriend looked like he had just come straight from work, still dressed in a sharp suit. He handed Jiang Tian a bouquet of flowers—intimate and inseparable.

Standing under the breeze, Jiang Tian’s gown fluttered slightly. Holding the bouquet from his lover, even the usually aloof male lead wore a soft expression.

Compared to a year ago, the “student” vibe had faded. Now, he exuded a more mature aura.

Everyone grows up, especially someone like Jiang Tian—who had a perfect guiding-type boyfriend and had already built wealth through investments back in college.

    Rumor had it—

Jiang Tian had no intention of working for President Chu’s company. After graduation, he would be working at a research institute. Quiet and steady, focused on his field, his path had never once wavered.

So when people saw Jiang Tian holding flowers, standing under the shade with his suited-up boyfriend, taking photos together with matching rings on their ring fingers—it was hard not to feel envious.

    “They look so perfect together.”

Someone sincerely sighed, “I heard the proposal was successful. Looks like they’ll be getting married after graduation~”

The classmates were chatting excitedly, curious about who proposed first, though the couple themselves didn’t hear and no answer was revealed.

As for Jiang Tian and Chu Xuyu, they stayed low-key and quiet. After taking their photos, a few classmates came over and asked for a picture, and Chu Xuyu kindly offered to take the photos for them.

But that didn’t last long. Once the photos were done, they walked through the campus path, returned to their car, and prepared to leave the university.

Chu Xuyu was behind the wheel, while Jiang Tian sat in the passenger seat, fiddling with the camera.

Sunlight filtered through the trees, casting dappled shadows inside the car. Jiang Tian glanced away from the screen, leaned over, and gave his suited-up boyfriend a sudden kiss on the cheek.

Startled, Chu Xuyu nearly stepped on the gas. Even after four years, he still couldn’t resist his “little puppy’s” charm.

    “Why the sudden kiss?”

But he held back, trying to act mature—after all, he now managed the entire group’s assets and was in his thirties.

    “I wanted to kiss you.”

Jiang Tian smiled more directly than he used to, lips curled slightly. “You flew all the way back from the overseas branch just to take graduation pics with me. I’m super touched.”

Chu Xuyu nearly lost control of his expression. “You really haven’t changed a bit.”

With their growing relationship, Jiang Tian’s sincerity and charm only became more evident. And even though Chu Xuyu seemed mature and steady, he hadn’t changed much in love either.

Their friends often joked: one’s a top-tier academic research student, the other’s a busy CEO—and yet they still had such intense emotional chemistry. A match made in heaven.

A couple of months ago, they each proposed to the other. And soon—they’d be getting married.

Funny enough, the proposal had a twist. They secretly bought matching rings and planned surprise proposals at separate venues.

They both insisted on going to their prepared dinner spots. Unaware of each other’s plans, neither wanted to compromise. They were confused—usually so easygoing, why so stubborn this time?

Though not exactly annoyed, they were both puzzled—until they ended up visiting each location in turn… and each experienced a surprise proposal.

    “…”

They were both shocked but amused. So that’s why they were so insistent—it turned out they’d planned their proposals for the exact same day.

Looking back, their love story was full of such fun and sweet moments—even when life got busy.

    One time…

Jiang Tian went from being an ordinary student to secretly becoming a top investor in Ning City.

When he once joined Chu Xuyu for a business meeting, someone accidentally called him “President Jiang.” Both of them froze before realizing what had just happened.

For six months, Jiang Tian was “forced” to play the role of a domineering CEO in bed. They acted out every business drama cliché—many times in Chu Xuyu’s office:

“President Jiang, don’t forget to clock in.”

“President Jiang, please come inspect the reports.”

    “President Jiang?”

    “Come to bed, President Jiang.”

Even when he was crazy busy, Chu Xuyu never held back. Jiang Tian always suspected the “business partners” were just actors hired by his lover—but he never found proof.

In sophomore year, Jiang Tian’s workload was lighter, and he once did a cosplay shoot with Lu Qiao.

It happened during the rise of short-form videos with “alternate universe transitions,” and he casually filmed one. To his surprise, it blew up—over 8 million likes and comments. Agencies flooded his inbox, wanting to turn him into the next idol star.

But Jiang Tian only wanted to study—and with a steady boyfriend, he had no interest in the entertainment industry. He turned down every offer.

He didn’t tell Chu Xuyu at first—but of course, that guy found out.

From then on, the “CEO roleplay” was retired… replaced by every wild entertainment-industry script imaginable.

One time was particularly outrageous. A makeup artist came to the house with an idol stage outfit, styled him like a pop star, and gave him this storyline: “Washed-up idol seduces CEO for a second chance.”

“After being blacklisted, top industry tycoon helps him reclaim stardom!”

Jiang Tian suspected Chu Xuyu had hired professionals to write spicy fanfic—but again, had no evidence.

In junior year, Jiang Tian did a full-year exchange abroad. With time zone differences, he mostly kept in touch with friends through online games.

At the time, Chu Xuyu was busy with things in L.A. and couldn’t meet often either.

Abroad, Jiang Tian led a dull life—he didn’t enjoy parties. When bored, he matched with nearby players to play games.

That’s how he met a chatty gaming buddy—another gay man who was also in a long-distance relationship. They bonded over shared experiences.

    At first—

Jiang Tian just thought of him as a fellow overseas player. But gradually, the guy became overly familiar—constantly bringing up details about his sex life with his boyfriend.

    Later—

Jiang Tian began setting boundaries. He refused to team up and told the guy he wasn’t interested in his personal business.

But the guy kept sending flirty messages anyway.

    Later on.

Jiang Tian was about to delete that online friend when he received a compiled chat log. In it were all the times he had secretly mentioned how much he missed Chu Xuyu whenever the conversation turned to his boyfriend.

That was when the person initiated a video call—revealing their identity. Jiang Tian never expected it to be Chu Xuyu himself.

    Jiang Tian: “……”

One moment he was telling Chu Xuyu how great life was, and the next, that same man had used a side account to trick him—pulling out all his hidden longing and genuine experiences of love.

The things Jiang Tian had carelessly shared included but weren’t limited to: hugging, kissing, of course missing him, and how his scent brought peace of mind.

All of it—tricked out of him by Chu Xuyu over the course of one month!

    “……”

Over the years, Jiang Tian had grown increasingly mature and reserved—no longer the shy and clueless boy from his high school graduation days.

But Chu Xuyu’s mischievous streak had only gotten worse. Now he held all the cards, every single emotional truth Jiang Tian had unwittingly confessed—and for someone as thin-skinned as Jiang Tian, it was terribly embarrassing.

    Later on—

Every time they were in bed, Chu Xuyu would bring it up, making Jiang Tian blush to the tips of his ears. He had to resort to using action to get him to stop talking—but even that didn’t work well.

As for their fourth year together, what Jiang Tian remembered most was not long ago, when they each planned surprise proposals for one another.

He imported all the photos and videos to his phone—including both proposal scenes—and edited them with a romantic background song to create a video they’d play at their wedding.

    Half a month later.

One of the grooms was the heir of the Chu family. The grand and luxurious wedding made headlines—a top-tier elite wedding held in both Los Angeles and Ning City.

The other groom, when compared in terms of background and wealth, might not measure up to even a tenth of the Chu family’s—but just seeing the live broadcast of the wedding, no one dared say he was “marrying up.”

    Everyone knew—

Just how much the president of the Chu Group adored his lover.

This perfect couple stood together at the sacred altar, and even their shimmering eyelashes seemed to tell the story of their love.

Their friends and family watched them with warm blessings, witnessing the two grooms exchange vows, slip on matching rings, and kiss lightly—completing the wedding ceremony.

    No one expected—

That such a high-profile wedding, the talk of the elite business circle and the curiosity of the internet, would end with the two grooms playing a prank on the entertainment reporters—vanishing before they could be interviewed.

On a coastal road in Ning City, Jiang Tian and Chu Xuyu, both dressed in suits, drove the latest model convertible. Their wedding rings glinted on their fingers as they reenacted a romantic “CEO and sweetheart elope” scene.

Unlike four years ago, this time they weren’t running away without purpose. The luxury car sped straight toward Jiang Tian’s hometown, the night view full of charm and warmth.

Their extravagant suits—worth enough to be auctioned—were worn as they climbed a hill. Fireflies danced through the summer night. Even drenched in sweat, neither of them cared.

Chu Xuyu hadn’t thought too much about it, but it wasn’t just a whim.

He wanted to visit Jiang Tian’s parents once more, to deliver the wedding news in person, and to promise he’d take good care of their precious son.

Jiang Tian had grown a lot, but he was still willing to do anything with him. Seeking freedom, away from the burden of family ties—Chu Xuyu hadn’t realized Jiang Tian’s desire to “run away” was for his sake.

Only when the surroundings grew familiar did Jiang Tian fully understand his lover’s intentions—and how could his heart not soften?

    From dusk to dawn.

Far away from the bustling wedding scene, with only Jiang Tian’s parents as witnesses, a private ceremony of their own began.

As his partner, Chu Xuyu spoke sincerely, promising he would always treat Jiang Tian well: “From this day on,”

“Jiang Tian and I are officially partners.”

“Please rest assured and entrust him to me.”

At some point, a firefly landed on their wedding rings, pausing briefly, its glow warm and gentle.

Jiang Tian smiled, kissed the back of his lover’s hand, and called softly:

    “Dad, Mom.”

“Chu-Ge and I will build our own home together. We plan to adopt a child next year, and we’ll stay happy forever.”

“Please wish us a happy marriage.”
