Read And Be Lazy
    Chapter Index

It was getting colder and colder.

In the dry northern air, the chill was creeping in. Students from the south were, to varying degrees, not quite used to it.

From light jackets to heavier hoodies, Jiang Tian’s wardrobe remained as simple and low-key as ever. If there was anything fashionably trendy about him, it was probably just that ridiculously good-looking face.

But for some reason, over the past few days, he had been noticing strange glances from people around him.

Whether it was in the cafeteria, the lab, or large lecture halls, those side-eyes all carried an odd meaning that made him wonder—was he really dressing that weirdly?

But… that didn’t feel right either.

Until he heard that a fight had broken out in class.

The person involved? None other than someone he knew very well: Dou Ya. She had apparently picked up a dictionary in the library and given that eye-rolling boy from before a proper beating.

By the time the news reached Jiang Tian, more than two hours had passed.

He wasn’t there when it happened. At the time, he was at the school convenience store, buying two cups of bubble tea. He was planning to find his friend and offer some comfort.

They met at the pavilion in front of the library. Dou Ya had red-rimmed eyes but spoke with firm conviction:

“Tian-Ge, don’t listen to what they’re saying. I know you and President Chu are seriously dating.”

Jiang Tian bit down on his straw and had never drunk milk tea so solemnly before. After listening for a while, he realized—this fight was because of him.

Confused, he asked, “Why were you fighting in the first place?”

Dou Ya said angrily, “That bastard had a filthy mouth. He took a screenshot of that forum post—the one that got taken down—and started spreading it everywhere!”

“But don’t worry, I’ve already beaten him so badly he won’t dare open that disgusting mouth again!”

“……” Jiang Tian paused. “What post?”

Dou Ya rubbed her head, thinking Jiang Tian already knew about it and was just enduring in silence.

“Some anonymous person exposed President Chu’s identity. Even though there was no solid proof, it still got people thinking you were just some rich guy’s sugar baby.”

    Jiang Tian froze.

It hit him then—his slow emotional sensitivity had failed him again. He hadn’t even realized anything was wrong until now.

No wonder people had been giving him strange looks on the street. Those weren’t the usual glances—they were full of scrutiny and mockery.

But Jiang Tian didn’t really think it was that big of a deal. He smiled faintly, feeling he owed Dou Ya a favor and considered treating her to dinner.

    “No no no!”

Dou Ya quickly waved it off. “I know you’re frugal! President Chu is President Chu, and you’re you. Why should anyone say you’re being kept?”

“They’re saying you spend a rich guy’s money, drive luxury cars, live in a mansion off campus—what a bunch of narrow-minded trash!”

Jiang Tian held his milk tea and nodded.

“But… I have spent a lot of his money.”

Dou Ya nearly spat out her tapioca pearls.

“Wow, Tian-Ge, are you trying to go abstract on me right now? That’s hilarious!”

But Jiang Tian really didn’t think it was a big deal. His tone was light as he comforted her,

“No need to let other people’s gossip affect your mood.”

“I’ve got to head to the lab. If you’re going too, want to walk together?”

    Dou Ya: “…………”

    God-tier.

He’s handsome, has a great personality, spends all his energy on school and sports, and can tune out outside noise completely.

‘No wonder President Chu is head over heels in love with him!’

One second she was ready to blow up the planet, and the next she was being coaxed like a kitten. This girl was legendary.

    But.

Jiang Tian wasn’t a pushover pretending to suffer in silence. That night, he video-called Lu Qiao and Zhao Yuanhao. The three of them decided to find out who was spreading the rumors.

None of them were the type to let things slide.

Lu Qiao, a seasoned internet sleuth, dug through the forum posts for any leads. Zhao Yuanhao, with his wide network, asked around among friends at Peking University.

As for Jiang Tian—he’d gone through a coding-obsessed phase. Using the clues his friends provided, he pinpointed the exact time and IP address of the post.

    It turned out…

The IP address came from the girls’ dormitory of the Chemistry Department—right around the time he and Chu Xuyu had walked Dou Ya back to her dorm.

    Yuanhao: ???

    Lu Qiao: ???

Lu Qiao: Don’t tell me Dou Ya is two-faced?!

    Lu Qiao: angry bean emoji

    Yuanhao: …

    Yuanhao: No way.

Yuanhao: A friend of mine knows her. She’s a good girl. You’ve watched too many spy dramas.

    KIRA : Mm.

    KIRA: It’s not her.

Jiang Tian was always sharp when it came to judging people—and even more cautious when making friends. He didn’t believe Dou Ya would do something like that.

Even though she was technically a suspect and knew quite a lot about him and Chu Xuyu, Jiang Tian still believed she was innocent.

The trio chatted deep into the night. Even as their eyes grew heavy, they kept digging until the truth finally came to light.

    And sure enough—

One of Zhao Yuanhao’s friends had a girlfriend who was also a freshman in the Chemistry Department. Through her, they got a key piece of info: The counselor, Zhuang Zhe, had also been in and out of the girls’ dorm that night.

    Yuanhao: !!

    Lu Qiao: !!

    KIRA: It must be him.

The moment he knew the truth, Jiang Tian stood from his chair and grabbed a glass of water. His heart, which had been tense all night, finally settled.

It was well past midnight, but his brain was still wide awake. If Chu Xuyu hadn’t been working overtime, he might’ve suspected Jiang Tian was possessed.

All his friends knew—this counselor had once crossed boundaries and treated Jiang Tian with vague, suggestive warmth.

Now, there was no doubt. It was only a matter of time before the hammer dropped on the real culprit.

    KIRA: It’s okay now.

KIRA: Thanks, guys. Next time we meet, dinner’s on me. Go to bed.

    KIRA: Good night.

The boys told him to stop being so polite but still asked if he was okay.

After all, who could’ve guessed that a college counselor would stoop so low?

Jiang Tian figured he’d already troubled them enough. This would have to be handled carefully. He told them not to worry and to get to sleep—there was an early class tomorrow morning.

As for himself… he’d find a way to talk to the counselor directly.

At that moment, Zhao Yuanhao sent a suggestion. Lu Qiao quickly objected.

Yuanhao: Ah Tian, I know you want to handle this alone. But I really think you should talk to Chu-ge. He’ll deal with it way better than we can.

    Lu Qiao: eeeehhh

Lu Qiao: President Chu hasn’t been feeling well lately. Tian-Ge won’t tell him. Yuanhao, go to sleep!

    Reading those messages—

    Jiang Tian exhaled.

His eyes were hot and slightly sore. He didn’t even know how to respond.

    So he just didn’t.

Instead, he quietly opened a shopping app and sent each of them a couple of collectible figurines to their school addresses.

And reminded them, “Don’t tell anyone about this.”

He was afraid that Chu Xuyu would worry if he found out. After all, he hadn’t completely stopped taking the medicine prescribed by Doctor Fu, and he wouldn’t joke around with his lover’s health.

Later, Jiang Tian wandered downstairs to the living room like a lost puppy.

He didn’t bring his phone or anything else. He quietly sat on the sofa, just wanting to wait for Chu Xuyu to come home, not knowing how long he would have to wait.

Perhaps he was really too tired. Jiang Tian held on for a while and unknowingly fell asleep with his eyes closed.

After an unknown period of time, the sound of car lights approaching from afar and then turning off could be heard. Chu Xuyu returned home and saw that the living room lights were on. He walked softly, not wanting to wake the sleeping Jiang Tian.

Having just returned from work, the man was dressed in a suit and leather shoes. A few strands of black hair from his styled pompadour fell down, giving him a handsome yet stern appearance, exuding an air of authority.

But surprisingly, after changing into his slippers, he walked slowly towards the living room and squatted in front of the sofa, revealing a tenderness in his eyes that others had never seen before.

Chu Xuyu gazed at his sleeping lover and reached out with his long fingers, gently tucking away a strand of hair from his forehead, and softly said, “Why are you waiting for me to come home here?”

    “Just like a little puppy.”

He greedily inhaled his lover’s scent. Even though they used the same expensive shower gel, it smelled particularly pleasant and captivating on Jiang Tian.

The man unconsciously moved closer, burying his face in the neck of his young lover, stealing his body warmth like a pervert.

Jiang Tian was half-asleep and woke up thinking he was in a dream world. He instinctively hugged his back, his voice hoarse, “Hmm?”

    “…Is this a dream?”

With that sleepy face, he mumbled, his clear voice slightly lower, carrying an indescribable sense of emotion.

Chu Xuyu pecked at the corner of his mouth, “It should be.”

Because of this sentence, Jiang Tian vaguely dreamed that he had caught a butterfly that flew to him, not wanting it to fly away, and unconsciously tightened his grip.

    “…!”

Chu Xuyu was a bit tired, but because of his actions, he suddenly became excited, as if he had taken an aphrodisiac.

In an instant, he became interested and couldn’t wait to undress Jiang Tian’s sleepwear in the living room, using his tongue to lick his firm abdominal muscles, feeling the unique temperature that belonged only to him.

It was a bit cold outside late at night. Chu Xuyu, while saying his hands were cold, reached out to the warm place, his lips against his ear, “Baby.”

    “Are you cold?”

Jiang Tian, half-awake, was led by his actions and words, and like him, used his hands to feel the temperature. It was a skilled reaction that the two had experienced countless times.

    In the air.

The breathing of the two gradually became heavier, intertwining like vines, and in that joyful experience, Jiang Tian opened his eyes and came to his senses a little.

He was stickier than usual, reaching his climax with Chu Xuyu at the same time, panting afterwards, leaning on him.

    “…Hmm?”

Chu Xuyu was still panting heavily, being hugged tightly by him, his heartbeat inevitably quickening.

    He gently asked, “What’s wrong?”

    As soon as he spoke.

Chu Xuyu was almost scared. He had never heard his own voice sound like this. He could only use a kiss to cover up that subtle feeling, “Why are you so sticky tonight?”

He also tried to shirk responsibility, blaming Jiang Tian for being so sticky that he had become more pretentious than usual.

Jiang Tian couldn’t think too much. He was so sleepy that his eyes were slightly closed. He took the initiative to untie his tie and looked up to ask for a kiss, “Because I miss you so much.”

    Chu Xuyu’s pupils dilated.

    “Ge…”

Jiang Tian’s protruding Adam’s apple slid, not knowing that in the eyes of his lover, it was like a fruit exuding an alluring flavor, “I want to be with you.”

Chu Xuyu’s breath was scorching, as if his whole body was set on fire by this sentence, and even his speech was incoherent, “What happened?”

Of course, he wanted to do it, but Jiang Tian’s appearance was unusual. He leaned in to kiss and ask, “Who bullied our little puppy?”

Jiang Tian was instantly scared sober and had to pretend, shaking his head slightly, “Nothing like that.”

Chu Xuyu narrowed his eyes, leaned down, and no longer said nonsense. Before blocking those dishonest lips, he took off his suit and coaxed, “I know.”

“Next time, you can’t be so naughty.”
