Chapter Index

Bang—

A sharp sound of shattering glass suddenly rang out. Jiang Tian froze for half a second, gently closing the door, instinctively assuming a burglar had broken in.

But the living room lights were on, and everything looked no different from when he usually came home after evening self-study. He slowed his steps and walked over, only to see Jiang Jing slumped on the carpet beside the sofa.

With a backpack slung over one shoulder, Jiang Tian hurried forward to help her up, avoiding the broken glass shards. He accidentally brushed against a scattered bottle of baijiu on the floor.

“Jie.”

[T/N: Jie means older sister]

His voice was clear with a magnetic tone, sounding both pleasant and concerned. “What happened?”

Usually, Jiang Jing was the epitome of a strong career woman—calm and capable, no matter the difficulties at work.

Jiang Tian had never seen his sister show any signs of vulnerability.

Jiang Jing’s face was flushed from drunkenness, her eyelids drooping, but she began to drunkenly rant and struggle. “Don’t try to stop me!”

“Tonight, I’m going to fight that damn scumbag to the end!”

“……”

Jiang Tian frowned, suspecting it was a relationship issue. But hearing it confirmed from her mouth stirred an unfamiliar anger in his chest.

Though only a high schooler, he was tall—standing at 1.87 meters. He easily lifted his sister and helped her onto the sofa, then proceeded to gather the broken glass and toss it into the trash bin.

Outside, the breeze rustled the sheer curtains.

In his rush, Jiang Tian cut his fingertip, and a thin line of blood oozed out. He frowned unconsciously. “Jie, what did that guy do to you?”

The man in question was Jiang Jing’s blind date—someone with a good background and a stable career. They had been dating for three months and were already talking about marriage.

Due to the intense demands of senior year, Jiang Tian hadn’t yet met his future brother-in-law, though he had seen his photo. The man wasn’t particularly handsome, but had a clean and scholarly look typical of the professional elite.

Jiang Tian’s impression of him had been decent. Just a few days ago, he had agreed to have dinner with the man after next week’s mock exams to formally get to know each other.

Right now—

Jiang Jing, leaning against the sofa, eyes red from crying, stared at her now-grown little brother and sobbed, “That damn scumbag…”

“I was wondering why he was in such a rush to get married, wanting me to meet his parents and quit my job to become a housewife.”

“Turns out he wanted to trap me!”

“……”

It felt like Jiang Tian’s brain had been hit by a bomb. His throat closed up, and it took effort to form words. “He’s gay?”

“That’s right,” Jiang Jing rubbed her aching temples. “I dug up proof of him flirting on gay dating apps.”

“If he were just hiding his orientation, I might’ve let it go…”

“But he’s out there secretly bottoming behind my back!”

Jiang Tian was speechless. Their parents had died unexpectedly years ago, and the siblings had relied on each other ever since. Life had only just begun to stabilize.

He had believed the man would make his sister happy—only to find out it was all a lie.

He felt a deep ache for her, but wasn’t good at comforting others. He knelt down and gently asked if she wanted some hangover soup.

“Jie.”

“Don’t hurt yourself over this.”

Jiang Jing, still fuming, grabbed his school uniform sleeve, refusing to let go. “Our little Tian…”

“Can you help your sister with something?”

His sister had always stood in front of him, shielding him from storms. Jiang Tian had never been able to repay her, and the guilt weighed heavy on his heart.

He nodded. “Just say the word, I’ll stand up for you.”

He assumed Jiang Jing wouldn’t blow things out of proportion, maybe just confront the scumbag. If a conflict arose and the guy refused to admit it, he, a football team member, definitely wouldn’t let his sister get hurt.

However—

Jiang Jing had downed three bottles of baijiu, her words slurring, her usual composed demeanor replaced by drunken boldness. “That scumbag likes hooking up, doesn’t he?”

“You pretend to be gay and catfish him.”

“When you meet up, record the evidence and then slap the hell out of him! I need that to vent my anger at being kept in the dark!”

Jiang Tian thought he’d misheard. “……”

Was she asking him to pretend to be gay, lure the guy into a fake online romance, then arrange a meetup just to ambush and slap him?

“Jie.”

He wasn’t sure if she was too drunk to think straight, so he tentatively asked, “Are you serious?”

Jiang Jing leaned against her temples and sneered coldly. “That damn…”

“That shameless scumbag flirts with college boys on the app while gaslighting me that I’m too old and running out of time to marry!”

Veins bulged on the back of Jiang Tian’s hand. He took a few deep breaths, his fair, handsome face slowly darkening with suppressed anger. Still, he hesitated. “I’m just a high school student.”

“I don’t know if I can pull it off.”

Jiang Jing punched the sofa cushion like it was the scumbag’s face, unable to release her rage.

“My little brother is the top of his grade, 1.87 meters tall with broad shoulders and abs, already guaranteed a spot at the country’s top university—he’s way better than those guys that trash flirts with!”

“If he dares go through with it, I’ll send him straight to the police station for a few days!”

Jiang Tian: “……”

Since his sister was so adamant, he couldn’t let her get hurt and do nothing. He resolved to go confront that disgusting bastard.

“How do I contact him?”

Jiang Tian even pulled out his phone, ready to download a gay dating app, but was interrupted by his sister.

“That scumbag posted his contact info on the platform. I’ll just send you his account…”

Half-drunk and half-sober, Jiang Jing began rummaging for her phone, which she couldn’t remember where she threw. Jiang Tian handed it to her, and she opened the pinned account and shared the contact.

Ding—

A stranger’s friend request popped up on Jiang Tian’s screen.

Jiang Tian paused, staring at the golden-sunset profile picture and the username “Afternoon Tea.” It certainly matched the style of a thirty-something man.

Just as he was about to ask his sister if she had sent the wrong account, Jiang Jing suddenly erupted in a thunderous wave of vomiting.

Jiang Tian couldn’t care about anything else. He quickly moved the trash bin over and helped her lean forward. “Throw up slowly. I’ll go make you some hangover soup.”

But Jiang Jing, even while vomiting, insisted, “No need!”

“Xiao Tian…”

“Give me your phone. Now!”

The phone was snatched away so fast that Jiang Tian didn’t have time to react. Worried that she might fall or get too worked up, he didn’t resist her actions and watched her skillfully operate his phone—

A friend request was successfully sent to “Afternoon Tea.”

“Ughhh…”

The night sky over Ning City was filled with stars, yet there was nothing romantic about it. The house was a chaotic mess.

Jiang Tian cared for his sister until dawn. Even after returning to his bedroom, his ears still rang from her drunken sobbing.

The floor-to-ceiling window was open, cold moonlight casting over the tall, well-built figure of the teenager.

At Ning City No. 3 High School, a top-ranking academic institution, Jiang Tian was a well-known honor student and adored by countless girls.

He had, of course, also been pursued by a few boys, but he always politely declined without ever giving false hope.

Now—

He sat heavily at his desk, long fingers brushing the edge of his phone, face calm and completely awake.

Unlocking his phone, his sharp features showed a flicker of surprise.

[Afternoon Tea has declined your friend request.]

“…?”

The scumbag wasn’t asleep yet?

No. 3 High School encouraged a free academic atmosphere, allowing students to bring phones to school. Jiang Tian kept his on silent mode. He didn’t know when the request had been rejected—only that it had.

Thinking of his sister crying and vomiting, he felt he’d missed the best moment for revenge. Frustration surged as he resent the friend request.

KIRA: Are you gay too?

Meanwhile—

In a luxury lakefront flat in Ning City’s Jingting district, the air was thick with the rich aroma of red wine.

Chu Xuyu lounged on the sofa, still in his suit, the tailored fabric outlining his tall, lean frame. The friend request notification on his phone made him frown.

Half an hour earlier—

This young CEO had returned from a meeting and taken a private call from Los Angeles. After discussing family matters with his father, he found himself too restless to sleep.

He uncorked a bottle of Italian wine, hoping a bit of alcohol would help him unwind. But then came the intrusive ping from his phone—a friend request from some unknown account.

Chu Xuyu was baffled. This was his private account. Very few people even knew it was him. He had no idea who the person on the other side could be.

On instinct, he declined the request. But minutes later, another one arrived.

KIRA: Are you gay too?

Chu Xuyu: “?”

The person knew he was gay?

He sat up straight, the shirt and suit outlining his firm chest. Years of fitness training gave the man a scholarly air, yet with undeniable masculine charisma.

Though gay, Chu Xuyu was extremely self-disciplined and had zero tolerance for the mess in the dating scene.

Now a question loomed—who was this person, and how did they find his account?

After thinking it over, he could only guess that it was another one of his father’s desperate attempts to pressure him into marriage—probably some kid he dug up from god-knows-where.

“…”

He figured the sender must be some naive youngster, judging by the childish avatar: a cartoonish yellow creature playing soccer—Usa-Chi, something his secretary used as her wallpaper.

Chu Xuyu, too busy with work to date, had no intention of entertaining immature children. He had no clue what his once-top-of-the-rich-list father was thinking.

He was about to decline the request again—

Buzz—

Another annoying message popped up.

KIRA: Wanna hook up?

Chu Xuyu paused for half a second and let out a dry chuckle.

Clearly the kid was under pressure to complete his “mission,” even going as far as to say something that shameless.

Given the Chu family’s elite status, none of the second-gen rich kids in his circle should be this cheap.

Afternoon Tea: Who are you?

He didn’t accept the friend request but typed a reply through the friend request interface.

KIRA: Pick a time.

KIRA: You choose the hotel.

Chu Xuyu’s brows furrowed. Was this kid deliberately pretending not to understand?

The young CEO admitted he’d been provoked and now wanted to see who was behind the account.

Buzz—

You have accepted “KIRA” as a friend. You can now chat.

Elsewhere in the city, in the modest but warmly lit Xingfu Port neighborhood, a boy still in his school uniform cracked his knuckles, the sound echoing in the room.

Sure enough, the moment he said “hook up,” the friend request went through.

Facing the scumbag who had tricked his sister, Jiang Tian’s adrenaline surged. He rapidly tapped on his keyboard, determined to lure the liar out.

But the reply came faster than he expected.

Afternoon Tea: Hook up for what?

Jiang Tian, still wearing a cold and handsome expression, couldn’t help but let out a soft, mocking laugh. Playing dumb, huh?

KIRA: What else do people do at hotels?

Then, he saw the sunset-themed profile icon show a “typing…” status. A few seconds later, the next message gave off an angry vibe.

Afternoon Tea: Do you know who I am?

Afternoon Tea: Is that how you talk to me?

Jiang Tian took a deep breath. If this wasn’t the scumbag who lied to his sister, then who was? That guy had only accepted the request after hearing the word “hook up.”

For the sake of meeting him as quickly as possible and recording the evidence, this straight-A, straight-laced model student sent what might be the most rebellious message of his life.

KIRA: Don’t worry, we won’t have a case of mistaken identity. Let’s set a time.

KIRA: I really want to hook up with you.
