Read And Be Lazy

“Especially Chu Ya. If you catch my little cousin, you can force Yun Tuo to show up.  The important thing is that we can only get things from him.” Gu Lin’s hand on the car window tapped lightly, and his eyes showed a chill.

    “Understood.”

In the tin house of the Abyss Garbage Dump, Chu Ya looked sideways at the small clearing next to him, watching the light gradually dim as the light faded as he passed. The students of the welfare institute who were picking up the garbage also left the garbage dump, and the noise disappeared. So now, only the small snoring from Shen Qianqian could be heard in the silence.

He began to get dressed since the pain stopped. And when he was fully dressed, the lights in the garbage dump came on.

The bright light drove away the darkness of the room, and the automatic forklift began to work, humming out of the factory to deliver garbage. Shen Qianqian finally opened his eyes, and when he saw Chu Ya in front of him, he showed a misty smile. He reached out to touch his face, and his voice had a nasal sound since he had just woken up: “Shen Meow……”

Chu Ya asked softly: “Now that it’s dark, would you continue to sleep?”

Shen Qianqian thought for a moment, and then rolled over and pulled his shoes to the door.

“Why is it dark? What’s going on?

“Because we slept late into the night.” Chu Ya said.

“It’s night, it’s night.” Shen Qianqian had never slept on a white night, and after being surprised for a while, he touched his empty belly: “But I haven’t gone back to the welfare home to get dinner, and we’re going to be hungry all night.”

Chu Ya  said that he was not hungry and asked him if he wanted to go back to the welfare home to eat now. Shen Qianqian looked at him with a sly smile: “Shen Meow, are you scared? I’m just kidding you, I’ve got something delicious here.”

Chu Ya paused: “Then you put on the cotton clothes first.”

Shen Qianqian put on his cotton clothes, took out the half bag of bread he had picked up earlier from his pocket, and proudly held it up to Chu Ya.

“Look! Have you ever eaten this? This is called bread. I know the sweet potato is delicious but bread is too! Wait until you taste it.”

Chu Ya watched Shen Qianqian introduce him to bread as if he had found a treasure, and a touch of complexity flashed in his eyes.

He recognized the simple bag of bread, which he had eaten with his father on a factory tour. Processed with bran, the price is low, the taste is rough, but fortunately, he is quite hungry. Also, it is the food that those workers in the Yunding factory often eat.

Each of these breads has a plate, and today less than half of it is left. Shen Qianqian tried hard to separate it and broke it several times without success.

“It’s so hard for me.I’ll find something to smash it open.” Shen Qianqian went outside the house to find stones. Chu Ya He shouted and took the bread, without much force, and divided it into two.

Shen Qianqian shrugged his nose and swallowed, “Do you smell it?This is the smell of bread, it smells good.” The half of the bread was long since fresh, and there were a few spots of mildew on the surface. Chu Ya would originally throw it away, but when he saw the mold on Shen Qianqian, he hesitated for a few seconds, only cut off the surface mildew that had been bitten by others, and handed the fresher piece to Shen Qianqian.

Shen Qianqian take the bread, first cherished a small bite, chewed it carefully with his front teeth, but immediately couldn’t help but bite down on the next piece and began to gobble it up.

“Get up, get up, taste, taste.” Chu Ya didn’t move. Shen Qianqian urged in a vague voice, and he held up his hand holding the bread, “Hurry up.”

Chu Ya’s gaze fell on the bread.

Although he was very hungry, he did not have any appetite from the hard bran bread, as long as he found it from the garbage heap. He was faintly nauseous in his chest and abdomen.

“This is really delicious, believe me, it’s really delicious.” Shen Qianqian saw that he had not moved. So he took another bite, chewing it in front of Chu Ya, “Look at me, get up! Hurry up! Try it!”

Chu Ya finally took a small bite of bread, chewed and stopped several times, as if to calm his surging nausea. He then held his breath and swallowed it with difficulty.

“Delicious, right? Isn’t it delicious? Isn’t it? Shen Qianqian asked expectantly.

Chu Ya lowered his eyes and looked at him. He hummed very softly.

“Then you eat, eat, eat like me.” Shen Qianqian took a bite, shook his head like a small movement, and smiled at Chu Ya with a piece in his mouth.

Chu Ya also took a bite and chewed hard. He even his neck was raised.

    “Isn’t it delicious?”

    “Hmm.”

“You have to open your mouth a little bit, like me, this …… Hmm, hmm……”

    “What’s wrong?”

“Hmm……” Shen Qianqian pinched his throat.

“Drink some water…… You should swallow slowly.”

Chu Ya chewed bread and looked at Shen y gobbling up. He then realized that he was the dirty child standing on the playground of the welfare home, shivering with cold and staring at him while singing. His heart suddenly felt a little trance.

He would never have thought that this dirty boy with a snot would have so much contact with him, and that he would be injured and be saved by him. He even gave him food and shelter.

“What are you doing watching me all the time?” Shen Qianqian finally relieved his breath, smacked his lips and asked. Before Chu Ya could answer, he smiled again: “You must like me very much,  keep looking at me.”

Chu Ya pursed his lips and smiled. But when he retracted his gaze, a picture suddenly flashed in his mind:

He stood by the window of the reception room of the welfare home, watching two children follow the officer out of the door and get into a military vehicle……

The two children he had seen later, the two who were in the prison of the White Castle. He only felt familiar when he was at the time, but now that he has arrived at the welfare home, he remembers it at once.

Chu Ya was stunned, and asked Shen curled up again: “Do you know where your chosen children went?”

“I know. Ah, the top of the clouds.” Shen Qianqian replied without hesitation.

“Where there top of the clouds?”

Shen curled up with bright eyes and a longing voice: “They went to the top of the clouds to enjoy happiness, eat delicious food, and sleep on a cotton bed.”

“Did the kid who was taken ever come back?”

    “I-I don’t know.”

Chu Ya couldn’t ask anything from him and he didn’t continue, but the doubts in his heart became deeper and deeper.

Gu Lin What are the two children doing in White Castle? And the children who were taken away before, are all locked up in the White Castle?

He knew that there was a problem here, but he had no choice but to bury this doubt in his heart for the time being. He bowed his head and ate bread.

After the two of them finished their bread, they drank the water from the kettle. Shen Qianqian, before he had drunk enough, held the empty kettle and raised his head. He poured the remaining few drops of water into his mouth.

Chu Ya stretched out his hand and took the empty kettle and asked, “You went to Mixin Town last night to look for water, right?”

“Yes, I went looking for water. And I also met a ghost.”

“Can you still go to get water now?”

Shen Qianqian became an expectant: “That, that, that……”

Chu Ya: “I’ll go with you.”

“Okay, let’s go together, We can get water.” Shen Qianqian jumped up in surprise.

The iron wheels creaked, leaving deep marks on the dusty concrete pavement. Shen Qianqian pushed the cart, and Chu Ya sat on the cart, holding an iron rod in one hand on the ground, matching Shen Qianqian’s pace like a boat.

The lights didn’t shine on those dark corners, and the whole town was still dead silent. But because Chu Ya was also there, Shen Qianqian would not be afraid. He dared to stare at those dark places, raised two eyebrows, and had a clear understanding of everything in his fierce eyes.

He was trying to trick the ghosts into thinking he could see everything, so they wouldn’t dare to jump out.

“What are you hiding there for? Think I can’t see you? You cheeky!”

Shen Qianqian walked at a door that was open. When Chu Ya turned his head, he leaned closer and explained in a low voice: “I’m trying to them.” Then he turned around and looked to the right and pointed at nowhere to warn: “I can see you, cheeky, I can see you.”

Chu Ya silently turned his head and continued to measure the houses on both sides.

The street is full of shops, many with open doors, and there is nothing in them anymore. But he passed by a very good storefront, and saw that the thick glass wall was still intact. And although the shelves inside had fallen a lot, they looked better than other stores, at least there were some scattered products.

Chu Ya immediately asked Shen Qianqian and stopped. He pushed himself to the front of the store.

Garbage dump. The lamp illuminates the wall, and you can see that there is still a line of handwriting on it – the words Chu Ya  can be vaguely recognized.

Chu Ya raised his hand and flicked the chain lock on the glass door. He asked Shen Qianqian to  move a cement brick next to him. He has received all kinds of training since he was a child. His self-requirements are also very strict. So, it is not difficult to open such a simple civilian lock.

Shen Qianqian didn’t dare to leave Chu Ya’s side, but he still obediently went to move the brick. He walked forward, kept looking back, and shouted inwardly to a corner in front of him, “I can see you, be obedient!” Otherwise, I’m going to have to kill you! This brick is not good.” Shen Qianqian ran back. Chu Ya immediately asked him to slow down, beware of the wire coming out of the brick. Shen Qianqian didn’t run and just walked all the way.

Chu Ya picked up the wire in the cement brick and smashed it on the ground, knocked off the masonry on the wire, and then probed the keyhole.

He carefully felt the subtle touch of his fingers and listened intently to the movement inside the lock. Shen Qianqian moved close to his ears to listen. He turned vigilantly, paying attention to the darkness around him.

“What are we doing?” Shen Qianqian asked in an airy voice.

Chu Ya also replied in an airy voice: “Unlocking it.”

“What are we going to do when you open the lock?”

    “Find something.”

    “What are we looking for?”

Chu Ya heard a click in the lock: “Good things you like.”

    “Is that a ball car?”

    “Ball car?”

Shen curled up: “It’s something better than the iron ring, I like that very much now.”

Chu Ya threw away the wire: “If it’s not a steel column car, it’s not  something we need now.”

    Shen was slightly disappointed: “Oh.”
