Chapter 49 – Aunt

 

The floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room were large, framing the night view of the city outside into a picture. The orange cat seemed to understand that it was superfluous to be here at the moment, dragging its tail and hiding in the other corner of the sofa.

 

Fu Yanchuan stared at Qi Xi motionless for a long time. He then came close to his lips and said, “Xi Xi, say it again.”

Fu Yanchuan held up the phone for a moment, then suddenly looked at Qi Xi and replied firmly: “I will go.”

 

Listening to his tone, Uncle Quan sounded like he was preparing to do something treacherous and he continued worriedly: “We are celebrating the New Year. We can wait until the New Year is over to discuss anything business-related. No matter what, they are still your relatives.”

 

“It’s just good to celebrate the New Year.”

 

After Fu Yanchuan finished speaking, he hung up the call, threw down his cell phone, and called to the orange cat, “Great Sage, come here.”

 

The orange cat got out of Qi Xi’s hand, and lay down next to Fu Yanchuan, letting Fu Yanchuan rub his chin.

 

Qi Xi snorted. He crawled over and lay directly on Fu Yanchuan’s lap. He raised his hand to touch Fu Yanchuan’s Adam’s apple. Fu Yanchuan liked to touch him here every time. He didn’t know why Fu Yanchuan was always touching him there, though.

 

Fu Yanchuan suddenly grabbed his hand, “Xi Xi doesn’t want to be my  brother, why are you so jealous no?”

 

After coming back from the nursing home, Fu Yanchuan would call him “Xi Xi” from time to time. Qi Xi always felt like there were bugs crawling in his heart every time Fu Yanchuan called him that.

 

Qi Xi then used his free hand to cover Fu Yanchuan’s mouth. “I’m not jealous, please stop calling me Xixi.”

 

Fu Yanchuan finally stopped petting the cat. He picked Qi Xi up, rubbed him in his arms and asked, “Xi Xi, don’t you like me?”

 

He didn’t answer. He put his arms around Fu Yanchuan’s neck and hid his face. He lightly bit Fu Yanchuan’s neck and said in a vague voice, “If you call me that again, I’ll call you Yan Yan.”

 

“Okay.”

 

Qi Xi was stunned for a moment before raising his head in surprise, “You’re okay with that?”

 

“You can call me whatever you want.” Fu Yanchuan didn’t know what Qi Xi was awkward about, but seeing how awkward he looked. His limbs felt very stiff, so Fu Yanchuan deliberately said, “I would be happier if you called me brother Yan Yan. “

 

“I’m not a kindergarten kid! If you don’t call me Xi Xi, I will call you Fu Yanchuan! “

“Not surprisingly.”

 

Fu Yanchuan bit Qi Xi’s lip as he spoke. He sucked it up and said, “I hope you come with me, Qi Xi.”

 

Qi Xi looked at Fu Yanchuan’s sincere eyes and thought of Fu Yanchuan’s father. He felt that Fu Yanchuan must be as unpopular at home as he was, and he was not taken seriously whenever he went to his relatives’ homes. He agreed heartily, “Okay, I’ll go. From now on, wherever you go, I’ll go.”

 

Fu Yanchuan tightened his hands on Qi Xi’s waist and whispered in his ear, “Xi Xi, kiss me.”

 

The Fu family’s family dinner is held every year at Yanhui Villa, which was the property of Fu Yanchuan’s grandfather Zeng. It always starts at noon and ends with lunch at noon the next day.

 

Fu Zhenrong’s generation had too many brothers and sisters. Fu Yanchuan’s impression was that there were more and more people every year. There were not enough rooms in the villa behind, so the juniors had to squeeze in and sleep together.

 

Qi Xi went back to his room to sleep at night. Fu Yanchuan went to his room to wake him up early in the morning. He stretched under the quilt several times before opening his eyes, “Brother Yan, good morning.”

Qi Xi looked at the clothes on his body and found that they were new, and looked at Fu Yanchuan strangely.

The person who asked was Fu Yanchuan’s fourth aunt, and she basically arranged the family dinner.

 

Fu Yanchuan simply introduced everyone at once, “This is Qi Xi.”

 

After he finished speaking, he turned to Qi Xi and said, “Xi Xi, she is my Fourth Aunt.”

 

All the adults in the hall instantly understood what Fu Yanchuan meant, and looked at Qi Xi with different expressions.

A group of children nearby saw him and came over to pay New Year greetings to Fu Yanchuan, chattering non-stop.

Fu Yanchuan laughed. He hugged Qi Xi to comfort him and said to his niece, “Look, you made him flustered! You scared your Uncle Qi!”

 

Suddenly, all the children in the room were shocked by Fu Yanchuan’s smile. Although the youngest of them was only 5 years old, they had never seen Fu Yanchuan smile like this.
