Chapter 4 – Stand-in

 

　　It took a long time to repair the mobile phone, mainly because the boss opened the door too late. Qi Xi waited for almost 2 hours to. He hung up the scam call and found that it was already past 11 o’clock, so he hurried back to the room to pack his things.

 

　　As he was putting it away, he suddenly remembered that his phone was about to run out of battery, so he took advantage of the last moment to charge it. However, after charging, he naturally started scrolling through his phone, forgetting about his rush to check out until someone came. Knock on the door.

 

　　He finally remembered about checking out, blamed it on his mobile phone, slapped the culprit on the bed, and ran to open the door.

 

　　”I’ll pack up soon, please wait – Mr. Fu?”

 

　　Qi Xi thought he was here to urge him to check out, but saw Fu Yanchuan tilting his head strangely, “Are you here to ask me to pay you back? Why not call me? I can just transfer it to you directly. You don’t have to go to such trouble, my phone has been repaired!”

 

　　Fu Yanchuan remembered the phone call that was hung up just now, but did not say anything. He just looked into the room with a slight frown.

　　The small and dilapidated room was barely big enough for a bed. It was filled with a damp musty smell, and the walls were full of signs of wear and tear.

　　He ran to the window, pulled the closed curtains, and gave Fu Yanchuan a powerful smile. The curtains were opened with a swish, revealing a brick wall that blocked the windows tightly.

　　Fu Yanchuan really felt it was magical. He had never seen such a cramped and humid room before, and stared at Qi Xi.

　　There was still time just now. The person showing the room suddenly became busy. Fu Yanchuan stood at the door and watched. He felt that Qi Xi was the most amazing. He stuffed things into the bag at once, including the air conditioner remote control.

 

　　Fortunately, Qi Xi realized it after two seconds, took out the remote control, and then put the ashtray on the bedside table back in.

 

　　This time Qi Xi didn’t realize for a long time that he had packed the wrong thing. After a week of patrolling, he found that nothing was left behind. He picked up his bag and came out, “Okay, we can go. Great Sage!”

 

　　Fu Yanchuan pointed at the battery on the bedside that was still charging. Cell phone, “That’s your cell phone?”

 

　　Qi Xi suddenly turned around and quickly went back to get the phone back. When he took off the charger and put it in his bag, he finally found an ashtray that didn’t belong to him. He took it out in confusion and asked, “Why did I bag it? Do I really have an ashtray in there?”

 

　　Fu Yanchuan felt that if he didn’t tell Qi Xi, he might not be able to figure it out for a long time, so he couldn’t help but remind him, “That’s from the hotel.”

 

　　”You are so smart!”

　　However, just before he reached the door, the orange cat came over with its forgotten rice bowl in its mouth and scratched Qi Xi’s feet.

　　Qi Xi knelt down and praised the orange cat, “The great sage is so smart, otherwise you would have almost lost your job.”

 

　　Fu Yanchuan looked at Qi Xi as if he was an alien. He couldn’t understand how someone could be so careless yet so calm, and even wondered what Qi Xi relied on to survive until now.

 

　　Qi Xi put the cat bowl into his bag and finally went out.

 

　　Fu Yanchuan followed Qi Xi, observing silently, and found that this man was not only careless, but also talked a lot. He could talk alone without saying a word.

 

　　”Mr. Fu, why are you so tall? I heard that people who like to play basketball will grow taller? Can you play basketball? There is a person in our school who is very good at playing basketball, who is as tall as you.”

 

　　Qi Xi changed the topic without getting an answer, “Don’t you have to work today? How did you find my room? They told me that cats are not allowed in hotels. They have regulations!” 

 

When the elevator reached the first floor, Qi Xi saw that the front desk staff was not the same one as last night. Afraid that the fact that he brought the cat would be discovered and the receptionist would be scolded last night, he stuffed the orange cat that he had hidden in his clothes into Fu Yanchuan’s arms.

 

　　”Mr. Fu, hide now!”

 

　　Fu Yanchuan froze. When Qi Xi saw that he didn’t respond, Qi Xi simply tore open his suit jacket, stuffed the orange cat inside, and then pushed him out vigilantly, “You go wait for me outside and don’t get discovered.”

 

　　Fu Yanchuan lowered his head and met the eyes of the orange cat that poked its head out of his clothes. All his nerves seemed to be challenged.

　　For him, there are only goals and steps for anything. He can just take a cat with him. There are no regulations. As long as he wants to take him, he can buy the hotel and change this rule.

 

　　But Qi Xi carefully pressed the orange cat’s head back into his clothes and called him, “Mr. Fu, get out quickly, or you will be seen.”

 

　　The next moment, Fu Yanchuan made a mistake and held down the orange cat like a thief. The cat squeezed its head outwards as he walked out of the hotel with long legs.

 

　　When he got outside, he took the cat out and held it high in the air, making eye contact with him.

 

　　He had a dog when he was a child, but he only kept it for a week because he took the dog for a morning run every day. Fu Zhenrong found that he was too distracted by just walking the dog, and forced him to euthanize the dog himself, and then told him, “Don’t let useless things affect you. You should throw away useless things immediately and completely.”

 

　　Qi Xi came out after checking out the room. Fu Yanchuan was still carrying the cat, and thought of the dog that died in his hands from the cat’s eyes. The dog looked at him for the last time when he was 10 years old.

 

　　”Mr. Fu, thank you. You are so kind!”

 

　　Qi Xi didn’t notice anything and gratefully took the orange cat over. The orange cat lay in his arms and meowed at Fu Yanchuan. He looked at Fu Yanchuan and asked : “Great Sage, do you like Mr. Fu?”

 

　　The orange cat meowed softly, and he introduced it to Fu Yanchuan, “He is called Great Sage, and he said he likes you.”

 

　　Fu Yanchuan remained silent, but Qi Xi didn’t care at all. He took out his mobile phone and said, “Mr. Fu, add me as a friend and I will transfer the money to you.”

 

　　Fu Yanchuan finally said, “Where do you want to live?”

 

　　”Huh? “

　　Fu Yanchuan stared at the blurred writing in Qi Xi’s palm and pulled out his phone to call Qi Xi’s phone again.

　　However, Qi Xi, who was right in front of him, hung up again without hesitation. He even muttered “Scammer”, then looked at him and asked: “Mr. Fu, where is your number?”

 

　　”You just hung up on it.”
